The Removal of "Inspiration" Mastery...

For those that are not aware of what the "Inspiration" mastery did; it gave +10/+20 experience every 10 seconds while near a higher leveled ally champion. (Every 10 seconds = 20 exp =/= 1 duo lane mage minion +1 exp.)

What was the thought behind removing the "**Inspiration**" mastery? It helped supports catch up in level after returning to bot lane after roaming. Once the team groups up it would also give the support 20 experience/10s for pretty much the rest of the game since the support would always be a lower level than their team mates.

This was extremely useful for supports because they are usually level dependent and allowed them to leave lane and help out other lanes. It allowed the supports to not be punished as much for a failed roam. But now after the preseason 6 changes roaming is much harder to be successful (because they removed the +20 movespeed out of combat mastery) and because now all trinket wards last 3 minutes). Which has severely hurt roaming for supports.

TL;DR: I liked roaming because it helped me impact the game more while playing support but now it's more punishing to roam if you don't get a successful roam off due to the removal of the inspiration mastery.

So what are others people's thoughts on the removal of the inspiration mastery?

I am not a math expert, but others who are ran the numbers and determined it was a complete n00b trap.

Are you referring to when it was just released and the mastery was 5/10 experience every 10 seconds? Because now it's been doubled and is a much better than any other options (ie: experience runes). They could always buff it further though if it's still not a good mastery in other peoples eyes.

You can see in the video above even Phreak thinks the mastery is good and this is the pre-buff inspiration mastery where it is only 5/10exp /10secs.

I support alot and I never used it anyways, I always tended to stay near my carry.

Well I found the mastery quite beneficial even when not roaming. Because it allowed me to catch up in levels once I got to the grouping phase of the game due to top and mid lane being a higher level.

The problem is that it was not really useful over other options.

Now say if there was a item that makes you get 10% more for each level an ally year you has over you up to 5 levels for 50% and the shared EXP boost was removed (last I checked this was 32% which is part of the reason that the ADC + support meta is so impossible to get ride of) then we might be talking a healthy exp boost that also shakes up the meta for more of a roaming support setup instead of guard the ADC endlessly.

having a down side to roaming is a good thing, a good roam can change the flow of mid or trash a junglers route or plan. it shouldnt be somthing that should be taken lightly. if you wanna minimize loss then take the mastery that gives bonus movement in the river which stays very useful all game.

Fair enough, but I've tried that mastery and its not even very noticeable. Also roaming through the river also lowers your chance of a successful roam which could just end up wasting your time even more because of the new 3 minute trinket wards. Against a very good team too roaming through the river could even get yourself collapsed upon and killed. The mastery is more for midlaners that wanna roam top and bot in my opinion.

When I play ADC and my support roams I feel like Iam being cheated on. If my support isn't by my side the whole game I feel so alone, I get scared and start to panic. I need my support to hold me tight through the long laning phase, they need to whisper sweet nothings into my ear as I get last hits. When Iam ready to move out of my lane my support needs to be right there with me, not roaming around looking for someone better ;_; am I not good enough for you to stay with me? </3

Sometimes I just envy the jungler when I see him hanging out with the rest of the team. Being stuck on an island with a bad adc makes me a sad panda. support
