Do people that are Master & Challenger have to start over each season?

Here is my question, it's probably a stupid one. Do really high rank people start out on the same playing field as other players each new season? Meaning they have to work their way up from low elo all the way back up to Master/Challenger? Or do they get placed really high automatically because of their previous rank history?

They start in somewhere plat-low diamond That doesn't really change much. Most masters-challengers breeze through silver-gold with something like 90% winrate when playing on smurf accounts

Riot did an experiment once. They gave some high elo / pro players ultra low elo accounts to see what would happen. They got out easily.

High rank players talk about how "easy" it is to climb, and aren't stuck with inting teammates. I feel like everyone single person should be forced to place in silver or lower.

In your promos, the highest you can get it gold 1, so they probably go up from there.

So we're all going to pretend like it doesn't matter if you have 4 inting teammates that dont ward or do objectves, if you're good? You can still climb ez with an entire team thats inting and an afk? That's what we're all saying?

I assume you have never gotten out of Gold.

The highest you can get placed is Plat 1. However, their MMR is still held over from last season so they still will only get matched with other high ELO players

You're level 43. You've barely played any ranked games this season. So yea, you're not gonna climb if you don't play.

Just wondering if it's a fair playing field for all players ( especially players stuck in elo hell due to other people sabotaging their games over and over again ) when new seasons are launched.

Haha...ELO hell.. I used to believe that existed when I was in Silver.

Spent many moons blaming the system, blaming the inters, blaming the game. Wasn't until I came to the conclusion **that I was the problem **that I finally started advancing my rank consistently.

If you believe ELO hell exists, you more than likely have hit a skill-plateau and you, in-fact, belong where you are.

Easiest proof that there isn't an ELO hell, look at ELO boosting scene. You think Riot rigs games for ELO boosters to win from Iron to Challenger? They've got timelines and hungry customers to fill. A competent booster will blast through any rank placed on their order.

P.S. I don't condone ELO boosting, just using it as a factual example.

Top tiers down to like, d2-3 place into plat 1.
