Why Am I Being Matched with Platinums?

I have been matched against multiple platinum players (IN SOLO QUE) and I get DESTROYED every time. As a bronze 1 basically everything I do in lane against a platinum is useless. It would make sense that riot is matching me against higher level players to challenge me but a platinum is way too hard. Usually the enemy team consists of an unranked player, 2 silvers, a Gold 5, and a platinum player; and I am in lane against that platinum player. It may be my bad luck but is a team with a silver 5 and a platinum 2 balanced in any way???

You haven't even PLAYED solo que in at least 2 months.

You said solo queue not normals. When you say solo queue that's assumed as ranked solo queue. Say normals next time........

You do realize that I'm not the OP, right?

The MMR range is too large for it to be ranked solo-que, so I assumed it was normals. I don't think players separated by more than 2 tiers can be in the same game in ranked queues.

Ranked and Normal MMR is separate. If they don't play many normal games, then it wouldn't be surprising for there to be a large difference between their ranked and normal MMR.

It's also possible that they were just duo-queued with a lower tier player.

their is a possibility that it was a duo que, in which case I have horrible luck being in lane against a platinum when I could have been against a silver 5.

You are in solo queue but are you actually soloing? Duoing can cause some very bad matchups.

Personally I don't find anything wrong with being matched up with higher skilled people unless you just want to have fun and don't want to feel bad losing or being burden to your other teammates. You definitely can learn from them once you've cooled off from frustration or whatnot.

However, if those plat players are sore winners as in trash talking and flaring taunts/emotes to show how awesome(ly pathetic) they are, then that's when I have to speak up against those. You shouldn't make losing teams feel worse than they already do, that's just bullying.

I don't mind a challenge but a platinum player is waaaay too out of my league, otherwise I agree.
