Malphite is a problem

Just got done with my nth game against a Malphite. Don't have to tell you we lost because as soon as I said malphite you probably already knew. Yeah I was renekton, and I don't top lane often. But I didn't play super badly. The reason I know this is because all of my deaths were at half health (around) and under tower. This champion does more damage than some mid laners do, is tankier than a lot of top laners, and his main damage ability isn't even a skill shot. Oh, he also leeches movement speed. He really needs that when he goes MAC 12 with his ultimate. Riot, I'm a fan and supporter but this has got to stop. You balance out so many champions and for some reason refuse to touch a champion with near god mode. Of course I'm speaking from experience, but all of my experience with Malphite is negative. All of it. I beseech you, the highest power. Fix this asshole. Sincerely, a pissed off Canadian.

P.S. I think his ultimate is well designed and as strong as it needs to be. But when you couple it with the ability to one shot people AND tank through it, that's where I draw the line in the snow.

I was salty at the time of the post so allow me to reiterate some of my points with clarity. Malphite has more damage than I think a tank should. That was the reason I created this discussion and I was too salty to realize what I really needed and wanted to say. I don't want him nerfed, I want him to be either a tank or a damage dealer and in my eyes he's too much of both. Better?

He is mana hungry and Renekton can just spam his combo over and over. You are just bad. Renekton can lose only vs Darius.

You have sustain and an answer to everything darius Does in lane (He pulls you? Stun and Dash). You are better in the mid game as long as you went even, and late game both of you are kinda lame but you at least have a gap closer and can get to the ADC...

I have played that matchup multiple times as Darius and only if my opponent is garbage or we get jungle presence does that lane ever really end in my favor (or if I manage to actually out play him). Now mid game I do better because people don't ward and I can catch people doing weird crap in my jungle, and Flash pulls on carries tends to catch them off guard and they die.

A better pick against Renekton is someone like Maokai, Gnar, Hecarim, Vladimir, or even Nasus (Renek isnt going to kill you and will likely shove lane, enjoy free farming that one) who can either match sustain or avoid fights all together.

Darius can easily destroy Renekton, if he doesn't miss his abilities. His sustain damage is better than Renek and his lvl 6 burst is one of the highest in the game (he can combo you for over 1000 dmg lv 6, big part of it is true ). If Darius is bad, he will get poked and stunned by the typical Renek/Riven cheesy go in/go out pattern

Renek shouldn't be letting Darius stack the bleed, Renek's combo easily lets him match the trade and back off if he gets pulled and then he can actually heal back from it unlike darius (flask withstanding)

Yes Darius can get a cheese kill at 6, but if Renek hits 6 as well his Ult can save him and Darius is not going to be stacking to 5 for his ult unless, like I said, the renekton is bad. I go about 40/60 in the lane giving the edge to renek because if the players are equal in skill/knowledge then Renek will survive and be more useful later on by a lot.

Darius can lose only from a gank, if the players are equal... Darius can manfight the crocodile any day (Renek needs to poke with his manaless combo, before going for a kill, Darius can auto u to death with his bullshit passive)

Pay attention to what he's building.

AP? Yeah, his full combo is going to actually dent a squishy, but he sacrifices defensive stats for that.

Tank? He's a solid rock (duh), but he won't do nearly as much damage without AP.

He can't do both, and if he's actually at the point where he can, you probably fed him like 10 kills.

Also, don't post when you're salty. Get the fuck off of League and its forums if you're not in a good mood. Out of all the champions in this game, Malphite's one of the most balanced.

And i see now that this thread is 2 months old, but considering that you necro'd it, I figure I'd still give my two cents.

All I remember was dieing early a lot. I also remember being almost physically uncomfortable with the damage he was dealing to me even with magic resist. Secondly, it's better that I ranted here to people I don't really know and therefore care about. I could've ruined someone's ranked placements or snapped on a loved one because of this game. Let the salty shed their salt in whatever way that does no harm. Thanks for the two cents my friend. I hope they were worth my shady recollection of a good for nothing game I played.

He does not even come close to one shotting people, EVEN IF he goes full ap. I couldn't combo down a vayne that I had two levels on after hitting her with all my abilities(had ROA rabadon's and luden's). I needed ignite and a few auto attacks, she almost killed me too.

This guy must've been hacking then. My and my team mates' life bars dropped faster than leblanc could finish her cheeky catchphrase. I know what I saw, and what I saw was lots of damage.

You went MR per lvl blues, try MR flats next time...and you have 1 point in tough skin...I don't think i need to tell you why that's bad...

I equipped myself with what I had at the time and still am not knowledgeable when it comes to masteries. Not to mention that I'm a support main who was thrust out of his element on a whim and expected more than I should have. My point still stands however, his damage ratios are way too high for a tank. Ooo you hit a pet peeve there. When people assume they don't need to explain something it bugs me. It feels as though you're disregarding the fact that other people might not know what you know. That being said, I am very appreciative of the guide despite the fact that it doesn't feel like it's helped me at all.

yes he is sleeper op broken champ , buff his ap ratios do. say 0.7 on e and 0,8 on q. also make change his w to "enech malls next basic attack do do 50/80/110/140/170(50%ap) magic damage and slow them for 20(5%of ap) for 2(1 sec for every 200 ap). and we have fun ap assassin

I'm glad I'm not alone in that thought. Also, like the idea of Malph as an assassin. I never gave it a lot of consideration but his kit is fitting for that more so than it is for a tank imo.

Seismic Shard only steals 14/17/20/23/26% MS. It's not enough to cry over.

In my saltiness I never really communicated that I meant his overall damage combo is too much. Also I still don't understand why he leeches movement speed with it.

he really doesnt do all that much his kit just excels at dealing with ad top laners

Malphite doesnt do as much damage as the meta tanks like maokai or gragas because he doesnt have any %based damage, he needs to build AP and magic pen to get good damage (he has some armor scaling but its not the reason he can burst people). And if he does that he will be more squisy than regular tank builds.

He is pretty balanced i'd say esp because his mana costs early game.
