Autofill Problems!!11!!1!11!

You thought perhaps this was a satire post about most autofill posts? Elementary clickbait, my dear Watson. Misshapen Block(s?) of Text Incoming

The way I see it, Autofill was released to reduce queue times while sacrificing quality of games. However, it does not seem to be worth the tradeoff. This is why:

1. Obviously, auto-filled players do not get the role they want, or even worse, they get a role they cannot play(or just plain suck at). I myself oppose this because Ranked is supposed to be a mode where you can try your best. How can you try your best when you cannot play champions you are good at? Much like Dynamic Queue however, it does not really bother me personally, unlike "many" others. im bronze

2. I've read many posts stating that they don't mind waiting longer for matches and that they don't want auto-fill messing up their games. Although I'm going off of anecdotal experience, my average wait time is about 1-2 min before autofill. I haven't gotten auto-filled yet as it is fairly new, but I have been affected by it. (mf sup why) Therefore, as I am in high bronze/low silver mmr, it stands to reason that other bronze/silver players have about the same wait time. As we all know, bronze/silver/gold make up most of the player base, so I'm guessing autofill wasn't really needed except maybe in high elo(match quality probs worth more to them tho).

3. It promotes toxicity and trolling. I hate toxicity with a passion, as it takes the fun out of games. I can understand why autofill would make you want to be toxic, but that doesn't mean I want you in my games. When you get auto-filled you may feel like the game is a waste of time, and that it was unfair. However that doesn't mean that you should ruin the game for 9 other people.(Yes, nobody likes stomps, or toxic games(probs)) Also pls do not play things like mf support or singed SMITE support thinking it'll be fun and that you'll do fine(Especially first time). I understand wanting to play what's fun for you, but you need to understand that mf support was specifically made to counter zyra in lane. Anything else was just icing on the cake. Singed Smite support is just plain toxic to your team. Imagine someone who, after being quiet during champ select, tells you in-game that he has decided to troll your team with duo top mordekaiser(es numero uno). Not saying its bad, but unfair to your team.

SOLUTIONS All Some of these ideas were taken from other posts and comments.

1. By far my favorite suggestion was that the game notifies you when a position that you did not choose is available. Basically like how the game pops to the accept screen when you're browsing memes, except it would tell you what position is available, like SUPPORT, SUPPORT, ADC, SUPPORT. These pop-ups would be optional, and would be replaced by the accept screen if one of your selected roles was available while the autofill popup was still there. This way, people that can play a lot of roles can get into games faster, but OTPs can also play their desired role or champion.

2. The more realistic option, is that either they make it so that after the system finds a team, it also rearranges everyones' positions to have as many primaries and secondaries as possible if autofill happens, or they make a badge beside your name in champ select that, when you hover over it, says "this player has been autofilled", so that other nice players could help sad autofilled people(Run-on sentence op). Ofc, it could very well be both.

3. Remove autofill. I'm not very inclined towards this option, because "removing" it after a few weeks seems kind of radical. I mean, look at plants. Remember when every post referenced plants in some way, mostly negative? Now nobody complains about plants, or at least they don't make it to the front page. I also like to give everything a chance, because why not? Change is good(not khazix main).

4. Give rewards for optional autofill? Maybe on win gain more lp and no extra for losing to combat trolls?

I like having fun, and that involves my team having fun too. So for my sake, I hope that everyone has fun on the Rift! TL;DR: Just read it, it's only a couple paragraphs. Srsly? Fine, tldr autofill makes people sad, mad and bad. Therefore to change it, we can make it optional, give information, upgrade it, and/or reward accepting this system(if you win!(you won't(kappa)))
