Alternatives to Lux ?

So, I like playing as Lux but can't find any characters that are as successful for me as her. I love Tristana, but she seems under-powered. All of her abilities are great, but I can't seem to be successful with her. I also like Poppy, Shyvana, Sivir, Lulu, Janna, Katarina, and Maokai. I think I like Zyra, but I haven't tried her, yet. My point is that I want to be successful in LoL and to also enjoy some variety. Does anyone have suggestions for characters that can be as good as Lux? I've read comments that she may be OP. If so, then I guess I'll just have to continue with the light goddess. It also means that I'm not doing nearly as good in LoL as I thought. sigh Any help would be appreciated.

If you aren't successful, it's possible that you're trying to play champions similar to Lux. In saying that, it's good that there is diversity to prevent extremely similar play-styles. Good on you- I wish i could step away from my comfort zone.

You can play champions like Brand, Vel'koz, or even Ahri. They offer the same type of experience, but in different ways. Heck, you can even try Ziggs if you want to learn how to passive farm and keep your distance from an enemy.

Practice landing your skill shots on lux. Also between abilities make sure you auto for example: You q a leblanc throw your e under her but don't detonate it right away. Auto first to consume the mark then pop the e and auto again to consume that one.

Vel'Koz is my main mid, I play Lux too but I would crush a Lux with Vel. His kit is different and he's a lot of fun. I would try him.

Ziggs and Xerath is close to Lux. Ziggs is really underpowered though until they buff him again.

I'll try to explain my opinion... Ok so I main mid. The champs I main in said lane are Leblanc, Diana, Syndra, Xerath and Lux(sometimes cho too). Anyway, of all those I think lux is the easiest to play. She's probably the most powerful along with Leblanc. BUT, if you want someone similar to lux but match harder to master, try Syndra. A good Syndra stomps lane and gets insane stuns off in team fights. Diana is super duper strong but she plays nothing like lux and is hard to learn. Leblanc is great in lane and is prolly the best assassin and safest laner in the game but has issues late game even if she's fed. For example the other night in a ranked game the enemy Leblanc had 22 kills but couldn't carry... Xerath is awesome late game but his early and mid game can be worrisome and he's quite weak vs assassins since he's so immobile. You have to play a super passive safe lane, try not to push and farm it out for late game if ur vs an assy, kinda like least seasons ap kogmaw

So best advice I can give you is try Syndra, Xerath and Maybe even morgana?

If you're not finding as much success on other champions on lux then just play lux and tank the lp for dodges. The alternative is just stick with some of the champions you don't get success with and actually learn them until you are successful. Variation is good. Only being able to play one style of champion is just making you less flexible as a player (What happens if some changes give Evelynn or Olaf level nerfs to lux / immobile ap burst mids?) and kinda denying yourself some helpful knowledge to win match ups. I mean I used to always feed to zeds before I decided to just spam him for a week or two back in s4.

Try playing the complete opposite of lux until your succesful and comfortable with them. Think Talon , Riven , Fizz , Kassadin , Diana , Yasuo , Ryze

Ps: I need to go vomit I just recommended Fizz, Kassadin, and Ryze..
