Teemo rework talk.

So the Teemo mini rework was just scrapped unfortunately. I say it's unfortunate, because I have a feeling they seriously won't look at his kit again for awhile. The intent was good, I just feel the rework missed the mark on how Teemo mains actually like to play Teemo and was heavily funneling him into a single play style.

Here are my thoughts on the rework and a little of what I would have liked to see:

Teemo's current passive is iconic, and also does very little in the normal laning phase for him. The scrapped rework replaced his passive with his E, and shifted the camouflage on one of his abilities. I think this was a great design decision, and what his kit needed. Unfortunately, I think the scrapped E ability just sucked and one of the biggest reasons the rework failed. What needs to happen, is his passive camouflage needs to be a new passive for one of his abilites. Remove the un-stealth bonus AS if need be, but keep it functionally the same.

Teemo's Q is great, and shouldn't be changed too much. It's a great counter to AA builds, and helps Teemo survive in some harsh match ups were he simply needs the extra range just to farm without instantly dying. Maybe add a new mechanic like: bonus damage if cast when stealthed; does not break stealth when cast; temporarily stealths Teemo from the champion hit, giving Blinding Dart a whole new meaning and is super troll.

The biggest issue I had with the rework was the fact that his W was virtually unchanged. IMO if anything at all was to be changed on his kit, his w should have been the first thing addressed. Things that could have been done: Add an additional AP MS modifier; extra MS towards poisoned targets; give it a CD reset when a champion hits a mushroom; rework it and make it a tumble; make his scrapped reworked E ability into the new W; replace it completely and surprised us with something like a CC cleanse.

Teemo's E ability is definitely my favorite ability of his, and let's be honest is also one of Teemo's biggest problems.** I think making his E into a new passive was the perfect thing to do, and solved one of the problems with his outdated kit. **It free's up space to give him a new ability, while also preserving his identity and my favorite ability.

Having a sea of mushrooms and watching, waiting, in-hiding for the poor jungler or enemy laner to walk into your field of death used to be my favorite part about Teemo. Then his mushrooms got nerfed into oblivion, and with oracle lens very accessible it really hurt Teemo's map control wet dream and the terror of old Teemo IMO is long gone. Nowadays I typically use the mushroom to clear waves, ward bushes, and to throw into a battle to just for its slow because it's no longer the deterrent, it used to be. The worst part about Teemo's ult is the mushroom bounce mechanic. It's lame and if it takes away from their (Devs) decisions to add extra power to his mushrooms, then it simply needs to go. It's an unwanted and un-needed mechanic if that's the case. If they were to buff his ult or give QoL to it I'd suggest: **Increase deployed mushroom duration; Allow more mushroom charges or better scaling on charge CD; Let Teemo forage extra mushrooms charges in a similar manner to how bard's chime passive works. After mushroom detonation, a poison cloud that shrinks over time is left behind that refreshes the poison DoT (or just the slow) to all units still in the cloud. **

With new champs and reworks coming out with overloaded kits, and just straight up QoL buffs for abilities similar to existing champions. Older champs like Teemo really feel left out and behind the times. He's dubbed the "Swift Scout" but there really isn't anything swift about him. I'd say Yasuo, Akali, Rakan, and the new champ Qiyana are swift, not Teemo. He's easy to catch, with his mushrooms super nerfed, he's hardly ever catching you like he used to. Teemo could live up to his in game fantasy better with some love. The latest rework tried that, but when I was reading the PBE changes I was cringing the whole time and feeling the plight for pre-reworkAatrox Mordekaiser mains. I'm glad the current rework of Teemo was scrapped, because I feel it missed the mark with the W and E. I'm sad, because we probably wont see a quality rework of Teemo until they also decide to give him a VGU and that'll be late 2020 into 2021 since Fiddle and Voli just took major slots.

Thanks for reading.

I seriously couldn't agree with you more. All of the points you made are so true. I was even going to post my own thread - asking Riot to not gut his ult, in the future - before I came across this thread.

In my opinion, his ultimate is what makes him enjoyable to play as and, to be honest, I actually feel like it's underpowered. It's only effective at slowing - it used to be effective at dealing damage, too. His ultimate did deal far too much damage, in the past, I agree, but the terror of the old Teemo is definitely far gone. Teemo is known for his ultimate just as equally as his stealth or poison; etc.

Scuttle-Crab ruined his placements of mushrooms in the river and forced him to solely place them in the jungle/lane. But if you have an IQ you can 'kinda' tell where Teemo's going to place them and, therefore, sweep or control ward.

P.S. I like your idea of a tumble mechanic

their releasing a rework roughly once a month fiddle/voli won't be for a while, and shyvana/mundo won't be for longer guaranteed, i am expecting an udyr/cho rework at some point, maybe even a zilean or annie update, teemo is another possibility

So there is some hope, however minute it might be.
