I think I finally figured out why Rito switched to Blue Essence...

Everyone knows how much harder it is to get champs now there's Blue Essence, even Rito has to know this by now (if they didn't before the switch). I think they wanted to make champs harder to get because it makes their jobs easier. When you do manage to get together enough essence from constant grinding to by a champ you're more likely to get one you know that's good rather than take you chance on one that's not popular & might not be as good. That pretty much makes the popular champs more popular & the less popular ones less popular. That way Rito only has to worry about making fixes & skins for the popular champs, while they can just practically ignore the less popular ones.

There's some champs I wanna try just because they look cool along with their moves & skins. Since they aren't popular or I can very rarely test them I have no idea how they play. I don't wanna waste my Blue Essence on them though or buy them because I'm afraid I might end up with a champ I don't like & will never play. Examples of this for me would be Viktor, Kalista, Xerath, Elise, & Zac.

The math has been done countless times when the changes came. You get champs faster than before.
