Fiddlesticks R activation timer

Why isn't fiddlesticks R instant? What possible justification can they have for making it a 1.5sec cast time besides for getting him killed? Nearly all other champions R abilities are instant except his.

I wonder why one of the highest damage AoEs in the entire game needs a prep time to balance it.

Vilifier1 votes

Because he's nowhere near the highest dmg aoes in the game, not even in the top 10. And his ult is limited to 5 sec as where swain for example isn't limited by anything but his mana which endgame becomes near forever and who's ult his so much harder that he can easily annihilate a whole team in seconds as where fiddles can't. Oh and by the way fiddles CD on his ult is something like 48sec endgame, as where swains is 13 and instant.

MissingKayo5 votes

Uh.

Nunu's and Fiddle's are the two strongest in terms of pure damage.

Because fiddle ult is so stupidly impactful that it needs the cast time to balance it. If they made it instant, they would need to nerf the damage heavily

Vilifier1 votes

That's entirely untrue, first lets bring up some other ults that are way more powerful, fizz's, zed's, ziggs, swains, and those are just right off the top of my head, a great majority of those are instant, and the radius is much larger and the damage is WAYYY more. Furthermore fiddles ult doesn't silence you, it doesn't fear you, all it does is damage, and when anyone see's fiddles go in with it they either immediately attack him or run right out of range, in either case to say it's more powerful then someone else's ult is complete BS. And their ults are instant as where fiddles isn't.

Illâoi Evê Siôn1 votes

Fizz', Zed's, Ziggs', and Swain's ultimates aren't all instant. Fizz' has a 2 second delay plus travel time. Zed's has a 3 second delay plus travel time plus you have to damage your target. Ziggs' has a delay based on how far you threw it. And Swain's ultimate has DoT.

Vilifier1 votes

Fizz's ultimate is has travel time it's true but once its on u the only way you're dodging it is with zhonyas, same with zeds and his ultimate is instant, it's only the aftereffect that's not instant, but he connects with you instantly, ziggs yes that one isn't instant but the massive aoe and half a map range more then makes up for it, and swains is DoT but so is fiddles, the difference being swain can keep going and fiddles cant and swain can turn his off and fiddles cant.

fiddles ult deals up to 325 base damage PER SECOND for 5 seconds, not even counting the 45% AP ratio. His fear allows him to slow them so they can't escape it easily once he blinks in, and his W can be used WHILE ulting, AFTER fearing. His W deals up to 180 base damage per second for 5 seconds. if you do the math

900 from W, and 1625 from R, which equates to a total of 2525 *BASE DAMAGE ALONE, not even counting the AP ratios from items that increase that damage further, not even counting the possibility he could throw a crow at you from a max combo. Unless you are a MR tank, or manage to stay out of range of his fear when he ults in and flash out in time, the ONLY THING preventing you from dying from his blink nuke is being able to see that delay animation and getting away in time.

Gods willing you have a ward up in the brush because if you don't see it, 8 times out of 10, he will kill you.

To add to this, the 1.5 windup is also helped by his passive.

Vilifier1 votes

R doesn't have I repeat DOESN'T HAVE A FEAR ATTACHED TO IT. Read the ability, all you're doing is damage, any fearing going is if you activate Q while you're jumping in with it, which might work well on 1 guy but most of the time you use Q when jumping into a group, which is why it's usually paired with zhonyas, because if you go in on a group that's even remotely experienced they will immediately try to nuke you down. His ult deals 325 base dmg ENDGAME per sec, which means the only way you're getting anywhere near his full dmg is if you stay in that group for 5 whole seconds and they stay with you that 5 whole seconds, which in my experience has only happen when they are all completely CCed by someone else. W is single target channel ability which once they go in on you will be interupted by someone don't even remotely count on that saving you, and E is not within the bounds of your control, you hope it lands on enough people to kill them but if you're near minions of just have bad luck that crow will jump around to whoever it wants and disappear. If you think fiddles has one of the highest damages you haven't been paying attention to any assassins in the meta, because nearly all of their ults can 1 shot you as where fiddles needs a perfect combo of all 3 of his abilities to be able to kill just 1 person.

luna is my mommy1 votes

Yeah but fiddle has a lot more aoe damage which is the point. Fiddle's ult is for teamfighting.

Vilifier1 votes

Exactly, for team fighting it's much better to be instant like everyone else then having to stand for 1.5 while everoyne else kills u or dies.

Kr1sys4 votes

Let's just walk away from this one folks, just some low elo player that will flame you for disagreeing that his 'main' doesn't instantly kill champions whether fed or not.

  1. I never said fear was attached to R, re-read what I wrote.

  2. Comparing a jungle mage to a mid lane assassin is a poor argument because they literally have 2 entirely different purposes.

  3. Making up scenarios that automatically place fiddles in bad positions to begin with does nothing to justify your argument, because I could easily make up scenarios placing him in good positions showing that he is super OP, but that doesn't mean I would be right.

  4. Also please go back to school and retake general math, because none of your examples even come close to beating the base damage of fiddlesticks ult.

Vilifier1 votes

Here's some basic math for you 325(45%) AP doesn't beat, 500(120%) AP, and if you can't understand how that works, then you should be going back to school yourself. Sorry that you're too stupid to comprehend basic math. You whining about every point you lost doesn't make your point any more valid. It just makes you an idiot.

You're either trolling or have some serious missconceptions about balance. Fiddlestick's ultimate might only deal 325 + 45% but that's per second for 5 seconds. By all means please list the amount of ultimates that have huge AOEs that can be moved and deal 1625 + 225% damage.

Vilifier1 votes

Please tell me who stands in a full 5 seconds of his ult, because I don't know anyone who does for the entire 5 seconds, like I said you're living in a fantasy world where what he could potentially do, is what in your mind he always does, that's not even remotely close to what he does in real play. In real play if you can get away with 2 seconds of that damage consider yourself VERY lucky, that's accounting for fear, and your zhonyas. Without which you wouldn't even get a full second in before you were stunned, knocked away, or killed.

that's more of an indication that jungle fiddle has issues, which have been the case since late last season.

Illâoi Evê Siôn1 votes

Yeah. All of the buffs they've given Jungle Fiddle have helped Support Fiddle more, which says a lot.

Vilifier1 votes

And maybe you're allergic to reading and facts. Which comes as no surprise since you don't actually play fiddles.

Illâoi Evê Siôn3 votes

If all you can manage with a Fiddle ult is to damage a single enemy for 2 seconds and not land a fear (since it so obviously isn't attached to his ult) then I stand by my assumption. You still refusing to accept how much damage every other player who's picked up Fiddle for the first time does with a good ult seems like you're very much allergic to facts.

Vilifier1 votes

Hey remind me again what's your win rate with fiddles this season? 0%? Better yet what's mine? 61%?

Illâoi Evê Siôn3 votes

Yes, I'm sure your Bronze winrate is very impressive. That doesn't change anything about the nonsense you're writing here. Fiddlesticks' ult is strong. Fiddlesicks is struggling. Fiddlesticks' ult easily deals the most damage in the game. Channels on powerful ults are standard and make sense. Removing Fiddlesticks' channel on his ult doesn't make sense. Finding other, good solutions is what we should be doing. Go support a thread that is better at that than you.

Vilifier1 votes

Yea you're right far be it for me to question your success considering you have 4 other people to que with and carry your ass into the ranking you are. But since you brought it up what is your win rate in ranked? 46% and me and my silly 48% is in bronze. Yea you're right you're the master of something. Not winning, but definitely something, oh please won't you give me your all encompasing wisdom on a champ that you have 0% experience in this season and a 33% winrate with last season when he was even more powerful. Kid run along back to whatever rock you crawled out from under, your "skill" is your team mates carrying you.

Illâoi Evê Siôn1 votes

I play Solo queue with a 64% winrate. Whatever website you use must have faulty data.

Vilifier1 votes

The website is called OP.GG, please go enlighten me about your 64% win rate when the #1 website in the world for all ranking in this game has you listed as 46% winrate. The only faulty data is what you keep typing. Which has been refuted over and over again.

Fiddlesticks 325 x 5 seconds = 1,625 + (45%ap with item 3089 (120 AP+ 35% AP buff) = 2405 total ult damage at max AP with 5 deathcaps

Fizz 500 + (120% AP with item 3089 (120 AP + 35% AP buff) = 1,310 total ult damage at max AP with 5 deathcaps

Fiddles > Fizz, fizz has more in burst, but fid clearly has more potential raw ult damage overall.

Go ahead and be condescending all you want, you are mathematically wrong, you can ether continue to deny the facts and keep failing to ult properly with fiddlesticks, OR you can swallow your pride and try to improve knowing this information which by the looks of it is new to you.

Either way I'm done here. Have fun, whatever you decided.

A whole lot of ults have some sort of delay. Fiddlesticks' is more powerful than even most of those.

Vilifier1 votes

Name some, I'm curious who's ult takes longer then fiddles to activate that's less powerful.

Illâoi Evê Siôn1 votes

I didn't say they take longer than Fiddle's. I just said they have delays and that Fiddle's is one of the most powerful. Ezreal, Caitlyn, Karthus, Nunu, Pantheon, Shen, Rek'Sai, Ryze, Tahm Kench, Taliyah, Twisted Fate, and Urgot all have channel times. Things like Leona's, Taric's, and Kog'Maws's ults have a delay before impact. Other ultimates have requirements that have to be met in order to be used or to be useful.

Fiddlesticks' is still one of the most impactful ultimates in the game. It certainly has the potential to deal the most damage of all ultimates (it only needs to apply 9 seconds worth of damage for there to be no contest). It also has a neat little blink.

Vilifier1 votes

Ez, karth, pant, shen, rek, ryze, tahm, taliyah, TF, can cover damn near the whole map with their ults THAT'S why their isn't instant, they need the time to figure out where to come out, fiddles range is roughly the range of a flash, Urgot's time is there because it's part of the ult, the time it takes him to pull it off counts as a stun and most of your teams damage on the enemy comes from that time so it's designed specifically with extra time for damage, caits ult is also a mile long, once she activates it the time design there is strictly for blocking because if no one blocks it you know you're pretty much gonna die. Leona's ult while not instant would be so OP if it were instant mainly because it would give her a straight 15 sec of stun in a row, if she didn't have any other stuns it would be fine but with the other stuns it would never work correctly it would be OP no matter how u put it. kogmaws ult isnt instant because its repeatable, over and over again, in fact you really shouldn't even count it as an ult, just count it as an extra ability he has to attack all day with because that's what it is. I didn't say anything about taric because I honestly don't remember enough about his ult.

Fiddlesticks ult is only 5 sec long, so yea you're right it would need to apply 9 sec, sadly it's half of that, and if they see you winding up for it then half if not all of your life will disappear before you even get to do it, and once you start that ult you can't stop it, so if you're in a bad position or if someone comes in to gank while you're ulting thats GG for you.

Illâoi Evê Siôn2 votes

Applying 9 seconds of damage means damaging 3 enemies 3 times, or damaging 5 enemies once and then 4 enemies once, or any other combination of that.

It's really easy to apply 9 seconds worth of damage with Fiddlestick's ult. Once you have there literally is no contest. Fiddlestick's ult then deals the most amount of damage in the game.

Vilifier1 votes

His ult doesn't even remotely deal the most damage in the game and definitely not in shortest time. But let's compare shall we? Here are exact stats from the champs own page.

Fiddles R, Fiddlesticks channels for 1.5 seconds, then blinks to the target point unleashing a murder of crows that flock wildly around him, dealing 125/225/325 (+45% Ability Power) magic damage per second to all enemy units in the area. The effect lasts for 5 seconds, dealing up to 0 (+0) total magic damage.

Fizz R, Fizz launches a fish that attaches to the first enemy champion it hits, slowing them and attracting a shark. After 2 seconds, the shark erupts out of the ground, knocking its target up and knocking other enemies aside. The farther the fish travels before attaching, the bigger the shark it attracts, dealing 150/250/350 (+60% Ability Power) to 300/400/500 (+120% Ability Power) magic damage and slowing by 40% to 80%.Seastone Trident applies to the champion the fish attaches to and targets hit by the shark.

Zed R, Zed becomes untargetable and dashes to an enemy champion, marking them. After 3 seconds, the mark triggers, dealing physical damage equal to 100% Attack Damage + 25/35/45% of all damage dealt to the target by Zed while the mark was active. The dash leaves a shadow behind for 6 seconds. Reactivating Death Mark causes Zed to switch positions with this shadow. Reaper of Shadows: Zed reaps the shadow of the strongest foe slain under Death Mark, gaining 0 attack damage. (5 + 5/10/15% of the victim's attack damage.)

And those are just some examples of much stronger ones.
