Rakan question

Riot please explain why all of Rakan's abilities scale off of AP. No build path I ever see enables him to build AP because his kit is all engage. So if you build AP you get obliterated when you engage or you build tank which everyone does and none of his abilities ever scale. It really doesn't make any sense at all to me.

On a side note: it is really annoying that relic shield does not execute with him.

Thanks for listening.

With the recent updates. I've been finding item 3303 is a better item as the quest give movement speed proc for every ability hits. And the AP help a bit on your damage, healing and shielding tons.

The only real AP items you should be building with him as support is item 3504 item 3102.

I agree with the executes, I wonder if they can code it that his close range aa has a different aa animation be use to proc it, which could do the same for Thresh. But meh, just learn to last hit and it should be fine.

I will try Spell Thief. It still begs the question why scale off of ap since you can hardly build any.

It is even harder to proc on Rakan then it is on Thresh IMO.

Start Q and try to land them from there with idea situations. like if your adc took a hit, Q and heal. By any means you are forced to start E, You can go for autos and proc it that way for early levels.

They typical trades you want is W, AA, Q, and E out. They will proc all 3 tributes in one go. And when your C/D finished, go in again when you're able to. Even for a pointless trade, you will get your gold to complete the quest.

The main goal in it is getting the tribute finish which can be done 10-12 minutes into the game mostly for me at least.

The scale on ap is good as most of the support items have AP on them in the mix. but Rakan's scalings is pretty high-ish, so you can do well with small amount of AP to have a better end-game. Its not really aim to have the most AP, it just helps.

The game here may be a lost, but I got a normal S rank, but you can see what I build, runes, masteries I use. All I need is teamates that are willing to tryhard to get out bronze without wanting to /ff every second of the game giving up. xD With this build, I was normally the last one to drop while being the one to initiate everything as the Stoneplate is just so good on him.

  1. only Rakan mains can play ap Rakan
  2. You should be building like an enchanter
  3. His autos are ranged like thresh

  1. No one plays AP Rakan
  2. Only if you want to get deleted because he has no range.
  3. I know how it works. Just don't agree with it.

  1. I play ap rakan
  2. Well, locket redemption are basically mandatory, With Gold item, bots and sightstone that only leaves 1 more item.
  3. I don't really either, but he might start using spellthiefs after the q range buff.

They scale off AP so his damage, shields, and heal doesn't get overbearing when he is built tanky. He still offers plenty to the table in a tanky build without armor/health/MR scalings. The utility is given high AP ratios so the little AP he does get feels more impactful, but only the utility scaling is high so AP Rakan isn't overbearing.

They might as well not scale at all since you build almost no ap is my point.

There are several viable support item options that grant you some AP. Again that is why the utility is given high scaling.
