Well duh, he's a dude from Noxus, but I'm talking about in-game.
What is Swain in-game? Do you guys consider him to be a mage/assassin? Ever considered him a Juggernaut? Very immobile, has sustained damage and scary to get close to? He literally has broken legs but can still slap a @@@.
If he is considered a Juggernaut from certain angles, why wasn't he a part of the update with Garen/Darius/Mord, etc. if lined up for an update at all?

Angelofchaos16x4 votesSwain is Counter Assassin Mage, that is his category (Fiddle is one 2). He is a lot more resistant then your average mage, but mostly from his build and ulti. He cannot be considered a Juggernaut for reasons that LadyRenly mentioned. I do not think that he needs in game changes, since I really like playing as him, but damn could he use a VU. Also, still waiting for Dragon Master Swain

I don't see why he needs to be changed, he's been relatively balanced and unchanged for years. Why go and break something for the hell of it.

When I say he needs an update I mean that he is an old man that broke his legs as a kid, and turns into a bird to kill people, and calls himself the Master Tactician. He could use a little more... character... or a V.U... or a rework. Something to make his champion make sense.

All they've been doing with the recent reworks is butchering characters with few exceptions. I'd prefer my favorite mage not become a melee centric bruiser with % health true damage or some other garbage like they'll doubtlessly throw on. I like swain as swain, and just because he doesn't "fit thematically" with you doesn't mean he should become a wholly different champion.

TheHobbits3 votesBack in Ye olde days we had the class dps Mage. This was apposed to burst Mage like Leblanc. Dps mage was better for teamfights where as burst mage was better for, well, burst.

You see back in the old days your options mid were either Ashe, Leblanc, Nunu, Alistar, Vlad or Swain. If you couldn't burst down like Ashe or Leblanc you needed to tank and sustain like Ali, nunu, Vlad or Swain. Veiger used to go bot with Annie as they had hard cc. Ryze was top because of his speed and Cho would jungle with Maokai.
A lot of things have changed, for better and worse. I still remember the days when the meta dictated that support MUST get clairvoyance to spot the enemy at the start of the game as they left the base so everyone knew where to go because if you didn't know that Alistar and Maokai went bot you were in for a world of hurt. It was kill or be killed.

AWKaiser2 votesWell, assassins are know by engagement tools, swiftness and quick combo kills, so no, a mage assassin would be Diana, Katarina or Kassadin and they differ from BUSTER mages (like Annie or Cassiopeia) because assassins usually have scape meanings (teleports, dashes) while busters lack from them. Swain is a very niche character but he falls into the category of poker because he has hard cc, damage over time, soft cc and damage amplfier and sustain, but lacks instant engage, gap closer and bust skills. (another pokers are Orianna, Azir, Kayle). A champ nature is defined by its kits and interactions derived from it.
And no, Swain is fucking perfect, no need to touch him...

Ok ok, you can re-work his visuals, damn... Just do to add and answer to the dude who posted this about Juggernauts, not all Juggernauts were reworked at the time, development team said they have another Juggernauts they want to do some changes in future, I think they mentioned Malphite.

Huh, I never thought of that.. Swain + Vlad do seem pretty similar now that I think about it..
and now that I think about it, they could both look so cool with updated visuals.
