Why did this happen? 7 games in a row won then on my 10th game my team pulls it out and we win. I expected to get high silver or maybe gold like i did last season when placed but silver 5? Can anyone explain why this happened?

This season is completely broken. Last season I was Silver 5, as my first time ever ranking. This season I rushed it at the beginning, a terrible idea but being kinda new to the whole ranked thing after only doing it once I didn't know any different, and got placed in Bronze 2 because of the changes they made and issues with dynamic queue. They've since half-assedly rectified these mistakes/changes, partially reverting to the old system. For example, I have a newbie friend who's.. good, but not great, I'm pretty sure I could easy beat him 1v1 with any champion I own, who's just went 5/5 in his placements and got Silver 3. No idea how at all.
It's not really fair, and if I sound bitter it's because to be honest I really am. I feel really let down by the ranked system. It's also really hard to climb out because I'm now being put into games with people who are being ranked by the current system, who are a lot worse that people who got put in this mmr back in January, if that makes sense. Tempted to level up a smurf and try again, just to see what I get now with them half reverting the changes.
You're always placed a little bit lower during the new season. If you really do belong at a different level you should just be able to climb up.
If you are worth Gold, you will climb back in no time. I was gold last season and got placed in bronze 1 early S6. Took me a week to get back to G5.
