Anyone catch themselves thinking "why bother jungling if you're not going Devourer's?"

Random thoughts, and totally wood 5 rep'ing here, but I caught myself thinking those exact words one game. I'm not necessarily saying Devo's is OP, but rather that it's THE item I think of when I think jungle. Is it because a select few champs have become borderline broken [space reserved for taking back the use of 'borderline' thanks to PBE Xin] thanks in whole to this item? (Devo + Titanic Hydra Olaf. Sleeper OP. You heard it here first) Is it because Riot keeps throwing other items in that synergise too well? [rageblade]

Personally, my thoughts are that it just does something flashy. I looked over at Warriors that same game, and literally thought "did I click on the wrong item? Is it seriously JUST +60 damage, +10 CDR?" I mean, compared to Devo's, it's just boring. Probably quite good, but still boring. The new Magus [technical name: Runic Echos, google search tells me [side note, this item "Runeglaive" doesn't even register to me as the in-between of the two. Point reinforced?]] is at least a junglerified version of an interesting item in and of itself, but I still just don't think of that one when I think jungle. Devo's steals the show on all fronts.

Thoughts?

No it's a garbage item in an elo where people actually don't let the enemy jungler afk for 17 minutes while they desperately try and get it.

I've played devourer junglers this season, absolute garbage. Even low plat players know how to abuse the shit out of you until you basically want to rage quit, and even then when I get sated at 18 minutes I still feel absolutely worthless.

Some of the top junglers right now are Graves Elise Rengar Volibear Nidalee Skarner DrMundo None of them use devourer.

Devourer? Too slow for this meta bro ... ain't nobody got time to farm that shіt, unless you really want the enemy jungler to snowball every lane and end the game before 20 minutes.

Also on the contrary... every time I see my jungler going sated, I know some lane is gonna lose hard, since then we have zero jungle presence or pressure.

No, I've never thought that Devourer was a particularly iconic jungler item. I've never thought any of the enchants was significantly more "jungle-ish" than the others. When I think "jungle item" I'm pretty sure I think of all of them.

I get your experience totally, just not had it myself. Might be because I don't play any Devourer junglers though, so I've a lot more experience with the other enchants.

Devourer junglers can wreck in Bronze/Silver because games last a lot longer, and Sated is a huge power spike that usually occurs at the same time as another power spike. Nobody respects power spikes or sees them coming in Bronze/Silver, which is why Riven is so hated and Devourer is strong. It's even better for three hits to win champions Diana Ekko Vi because the power spike is even stronger.
