Same thing that happened with Lee Sin, he stopped being popular so now everyone complains about other champions, as it has and always will be,

Others like kat, sejuani, vladimir and others have taken over the OP role. Vayne too
He got gutted with 1 sec CD on R swap, can't make outplays anymore like before.
He got a little bit of counterplay added - most likely he's just played by his actual fans now, instead of crowds that are just searching for freelo (then switching champs as soon as a nerf goes through.)
