Why is Mordekaiser's Q coded as AOE?

Mordekaiser's Q functions as an aoe ability, despite being single target. This is apparent when tested with Deathfire Touch and item 3146 .This really gimps his itemization and Keystone choices ( item 3146 Deathfire) , and has been a problem for about two years (Ever since the rework). Any plans to fix this?

It can't be that the ability is coded as DOT, because deathfire touch applies for two seconds, which is the AOE variant.

Gunblade also only heals for 33% of the 15% damage vamp. This is actually a huge issue for mordekaiser, due to hextech being such a good item for him on paper.

My theory is that riot simply never changed the code to single target after the initial rework. His Q was originally a single target empowered auto, that would become AOE if the initial target was nearby another enemy.

A Red Response would be great. Such a huge bug should be fixed, especially if the issue is something as simple as Single target being coded as AOE.

Morde honestly doesnt need another band aid patch, his kit needs to be redesigned from the ground up as his kit has alot of inherit issues that cant just be patched...but instead of addressing him....their reworking eve......

Test it with Camille, if her Q counts as single target then I dunno what to tell ya.

If her Q does the same thing, then I would imagine it's because you technically CAN hit more than one target with it, from first cast to cooldown, by using each cast on a different target.

Or maybe it's just because it'd be goofy to be able to re-apply DFT at full force, as well as other similar interactions, from one single "Spell" due to it having multiple casts before it goes on cooldown.

Best guesses I've got. I don't really see it as being wrong, I think it's the right way to do it, but I feel it's wrong for it to be that way if it isn't the same for camille, or any other champ with a similar skill(Can't think of another, but plenty of champs I don't play out there.)

My issue with Mordekaiser is that his empowered q won't activate aoe dmg items half the times which sucks! It sucks about half the amount riot games suck which is waay too much. What I want is to kidnap and adc and boost it with my damage, then aoe these people with my q. Fix your shit. Also fix hextech it's core for his hybrid builds. THANK YOU
