The state of Lux?

So basically as I said in another thread I have been trying out different control mages because I think they will be much more powerful then the assassin in season 6. The only control mages I consider myself decent on are swain brand and maybe azir. However azir is about to get reworked it appears, and swain is really matchup dependent, and brand just isn't nearly as good against players who know what they are doing. So I decided to give lux a try yesterday and really liked how it worked. I love the wave clear and I love her team fighting for sieges. My question is someone told me she's about to get a nerf, and said riot even said they over buffed her or some crap. Is this true? I feel like with some practice lux could really be a force to be reckoned with right now so I basically am going to spam her in games if this is not true. If this is true though I'll find someone else because last time they nerfed my champ(kassadin) I found him unplayable...

Lux is FINE. She has tons of counterplay, and people are just mad because they don't know how to blink-dodge.

In fact, here's some good counters to her:

Gragas - Grag has an answer for everything Lux does. Poke is basically negated by Happy Hour, while Body Slam means she can't safely try to proc Illumination on you. You can block a lot of her burst with Drunken Rage, match her pushing with Barrel Roll, and deny her the ability to tower-hug with Explosive Cask. Lux simply has nothing to counteract Gragas.

Viktor - You cannot trade with Viktor as Lux. You can outrange him with your E, but trying to proc Illumination means taking a Power Transfer to the face. His Death Ray easily slaughters minions, meaning you can't outpush him, and if he Flashes at you he can obliterate you with a full damage combo. Your only hope is to fish with Q's, which isn't good against a skilled player.

Xerath - Xerath completely outguns you, outpushes you, and doesn't have to worry about mana while your E eats up your supply. His E also works strongly against you because you always stay at long range (and easily hits you if you try to proc Illumination on him). Your shields are designed for long-term damage, not burst, so he can easily breach them.

Needs nerfs, has needed nerfs for quite a while, will get nerfed.

Way too strong in my opinion. Don't know why they even buffed her in the first place.

She did not need the buff

The worst thing is that her E, it was buffed so that there was no penalty for not waiting to detonate it. So now in lane, it's very easy for he to trade with opponents.

I honestly never had a problem dealing with lux I just Diana or Leblanc into her and its GG

Her entire rotation will one shot a squishy.

Judging from Riot's balance history they do not think think this is a good thing. Fizz, kassadin, kha'zix, ahri, zed all used to be able to one shot squishies with one rotation.

Look what happened to them. I personally think they've made lol infinitely worse by giving squishy killers about 2 seconds worth of counterplay even if the squishy never bothered to buy a defensive item. 2 seconds worth of time is usually enough time for everyone to react and turn on the assassin.

Feelings on Lux aside, if you're looking for a mage that counter assassins, you might try Heimerdinger Assassins need to get up close to do their thing, and the donger loves having people step up into his turrets. Even though item 3157 is taking a nerf, it's active still grants you free hits with turrets if you get dived. Likewise, there's some changes to item 3146 I believe it was, that allows every attack from the turrets (not just the lasers) to heal Heimer.

Once your laning partner realizes they won't be diving you for easy kills, they'll roam. At that point you simply ping MIA, push the lane, and take their tower in record time. Because that's what Heim does if you leave him to his own devices. You win the lane if they leave, and bore them to death if they stay.

She is actually a very strong support right now, the buff they did to her Q means its basically the same as Bards but without the need to hit a second target/wall.

The Ardent Cencer makes her really awesome if your team got a lot of autoattacking heroes. got some 65% winrate with her in Diamond on my main EUW, as nothing but support.

I'm the OP of this thread and like I said earlier I personally never had issues with Lux. If I Diana or LB into her she's pretty easily defeated. With that being said, I feel she is super powerful against other ranged casters. I think she has great matchups with ranged champs and she can be used beautifully in certain comps. Tahm ken u has been an issue lately and Diana/LB can't always assassinate the carry if kench eats them during said assassination. And as I said previously the season six notes make it sound like assys will not be near as strong. So, I'm looking for a ranged, CC, team fighting Mage and she looks like the one I want. I do feel that her team fighting is fantastic and late game wave clear is awesome. Yes, early game it's not all that, but again I was talking about sieging wave clear. I feel with the right comp she's terrifying in team fights

She is extremely high winrate right now, but they probably won't need to nerf her since the new season really buffes ad champs and nerfs mages. Having no mana pots will also hurt her. That should be enough to make her more balanced since she struggles against zed and talon who will probably become meta with the new ad items. She's been strong for several patches if they were gonna nerf her before seeing how she does in the preseason they would have done it already.
