Ryze... Good, bad or just mediocre ?

When I see ryze whether in my own games or on streamers,'it seems he always does reasonably well. Especially late game. However a lot of ryze mains say he's useless since the nerf. So what everyone's opinion? I know he has the lowest winning percentage of a mid laner. And I am aware that he's not easy to play. I'm also aware faker made him look ridiculous. But I want opinions of the common man. I'm gold 3. Any gold ryze mains out there? I ask because I really want to start learning a good control Mage for next season. I feel my ap assys won't be as good and since they are going to change azir(from what they keep saying) I really like what I see with ryze. Anyways, can I get some thoughts?

VERY strong if you have VERY GOOD management of your spells ( need to know the exact cooldown of all of the to perma snare ).

Just look at SKT vs KOO game 4 if you want to know what Ryze can do in the hand of someone who knows what he's doing.

he might need some slight touch ups... but its not like he is bad, but other champs can do what he can do but with more range and dmg :P

If someone knows his rotation well, he is very strong as you will be stuck in roots constantly absorbing dmg. If someone blows his rotation and cooldowns, he is very weak. The good Ryze'e make me think he is OP at times. The bad Ryze's just make you wish they picked someone else. He really doesn't seem to have a middle ground of just being average in a game. He either destroys or does little.

Played some ryze last night and yea, he's broken. I'm unsure why he has such a high loss rate... As long as you pick into the enemy mid laner then your probably going to do marvelous things.
