basically, if she manages to land it, you either run from the circle and get the buff on u instantly or circle around and get it when she kills the spirit regardless. her team cna help her kill the spirit, but your team cant help you at all. you have tentacles that spawn and hit you AND teammates that stand next to you, and you cant recall for a minute. can someone explain why its like this?

Staying in the circle doesn't necessarily screws you over. If you're in lane most of the time Illaoi won't have damage to kill your spirit.
It's a lose-lose situation because you're meant to be punished if you get hit by her E, that's the whole point. But you can choose how hard your punished.
