Shaco's Jack-in-the-Box

I know the changes to fear we implemented almost a year ago, however I am not sure I agree with the changes 100%. Yes, fear is no longer a matter of rng, however it has hurt Shaco's W tremendously in my opinion.

I used to be able to set up 2 or 3 boxes in brush and ambush the enemy effectively once he walked in range, especially while waiting in lane brush. Waiting for the enemy paid off. Now the box is counterproductive. It fears people away from itself, and every time it's triggered, the target is way out of the box's attack range by the time the fear is over.

I know fear slows the enemy enough to be able to catch him once feared but the boxes on their own are garbage. AP Shaco's boxes used to be deadly; now they just get to auto-attack 1-3 times then get killed with any bit of damage.

I am not entirely sure what would be the most optimal way to make the boxes a little more useful on their own. It could be reverting fear back to it's original form for Shaco alone, or perhaps an auto-attack range increase on the boxes.

I've been playing him often now, and I have yet to see a box deal its full potential damage to an enemy champion. Another solution could be increasing the boxes' base damage but reducing their duration. That way the box deals more of its intended damage but it's still at as much risk of getting destroyed once the fear is over.

I've always loved Shaco but I feel like a big part of his playstyle (jack-in-the-box traps) is severely crippled. That is my only concern about this champion.

Any thoughts anyone?
