Junglers and Sightstone

Is it still recommended?

I remember jgs used to have SS often, but lately I don't see many jgs with it. Frankly it makes me nervous to jg and not ward, and my pink with ward trinket just doesn't seem to have the uptime I'm comfy with. I feel like meta is calling for early-game pressure jgs, and with that comes dropping SS for something else. Is it simply not recommended with specific champions, or has it simply fallen out of meta entirely? Insight please?

If it makes any difference, jgs I usually play are (wether or not I'm new or good at them) Kindred and Sejuani. Totally different playstyles, I know.

EDIT: I'm asking this from a situation where you would run item 3706 or item 3715 instead of item 3711.

Red and Blue smite are not worth losing an item slot for.

If you use Kindred Sejuani , get item 3711 if you are going for a more vision oriented game. It's not worth 800 gold for sightstone. Also, both are actually pretty gold hungry. If you were playing Elise LeeSin Maokai sure go ahead and get the sightstone with blue smite or red smite. But both Kindred and Sejuani need items to be a threat, otherwise Sejuani has no innate tankiness and Kindred has no damage without snowballing.

what if you're building tank? example (the reason i posted): I just had a warwick game for the first time in a long time, against a jax. I went stalkers, and took SS to keep an eye on jax longer cuz I cant 1v1 him, and I figured upgrading to ruby would be a nice 500hp gain and item CD on my BotRK.

you could've gotten Tracker's knife and used that 800 gold to buy a cloth armor and ruby crystal, and instead of ruby sightstone for 2000, you could've gotten Bami's Cinder + Chain Vest to build into a Sunfire later.
