[Rework Concept] Fiddlesticks, The Harbinger of Doom

I think fiddlesticks is in a really bad spot right now. I know that I don't have the say on whether or not he gets the full rework he needs, let alone how he is going to be reworked. But I have ideas, and I want to let them be known. Who knows? Maybe it'll give some rioter a spark and then from there they create the new fiddle.

Here goes!

Passive: The Crows- When Fiddlesticks deals damage to any enemy unit (Either through auto's or abilities), he applies a stack of "The Crows" (Max 5). Fiddlesticks' other abilities interact with The Crows.

Q: Fear the Crows- Fiddlesticks Fears all targets with The Crows for 1/1.25/1.5/1.75/2 seconds.

W: Draining Terror- Fiddlesticks targets an enemy champion and channels for 2 seconds. Over the next 5 seconds, Fiddlesticks will remove 1 stack of The Crows per second, deal 50/75/100/125/150 (+.1 AP) magic damage, and heal for 80% of that amount (Meaning Pre-Resists). This ability does not apply The Crows (because it removes them, duh). If there are no stacks of The Crows left on the target, then nothing happens, but the link will remain until either 5 seconds have passed or Fiddlesticks and the target get more than 500 units away from each other, meaning if stacks of The Crows are applied, they will be removed during the following tick. Both targets can move during this time. Fiddlesticks can use his other abilities, and thus can apply stacks of the crows during this time.

E: Messengers of Death- Fiddlesticks sends a wave of crows in the target direction, dealing 50/100/150/200/250 (+.5 AP) damage to all targets hit. If they hit a champion, they will immediately stop and apply extra stacks of the crows based on how close to the original cast point the champion is at the time of being hit. 5 stacks if its point-blank, 1 stack if its a lovetap at the end of the distance.

R: A Murder of Crows- After a short, 1.5 second channel, Fiddlesticks will teleport to the target location within a short range (say his Auto Attack range, maybe a little further). For the next 5 seconds, All champions within a short range of Fiddlesticks will be attacked by a flying murder of crows, dealing 100/200/300 (+.3 AP) damage per second. Nearby Champions will automatically gain stacks of the crows based on their proximity to fiddlesticks at the time of the teleport. Champions immediately next to him will get 5 stacks instantly, but champions at the outermost edge will only get 1.

Changelog:

8/18/15- Fear no longer scales with stacks of the crows, Draining Terror damage is now a DoT along with the heal, Draining Terror also removes Crows over time, rather than instantly, Messengers of Death was changed to be more instant gratification than the over time passy thing. Ult no longer fears, but instead applies instant Crows stacks based on proximity.

Now I ain't a god of balance. These numbers are probably ridiculous. But The general concept if there. With this fiddle would become a Teamfight machine, the ultimate bringer of Fear and the AoE Teamfight control. He wouldn't be half bad in a 1 on 1 scenario either.

I don't think Fidds needs a rework at all. I think he's fine.

correction: asides from maybe a VU. Other than that no.

Consider a slight update?

I cannot agree with this. A champion that relies on a stupidly long 5 second channel for his damage doesn't fit in a game where 70% of the characters can disrupt it.

My ideas still have the channel, but its much shorter.

My last 9 Fiddle matches:

12/4/7 16/1/7 1/2/1 4/3/5 13/2/12 9/5/7 2/5/5 9/4/11

Seems fine to me.

I'm not much of a reader. But I still think he needs a rework. Soo I'mma up this.

We are lazy.

Tl;dr?

Fiddle now uses his E primarily to power up his Q and W and R

No need for a rework, i'd just love to have a longer range on his ulti or the ability to cast it on ground.

I cant gank or do anything useful with him since it's hard to hide in a bush and jump into someone with that range, or i'll get countered fast. It's enough that he goes down like paper, atleast give me the ability to use the ulti before suiciding into a teamfight -_-

I agree that Fiddlesticks is in a bad place right now, and I liked your ideas. However, I feel he just needs more power, range, and items to fit his kit.

On the contrary, if Fiddles range was buffed, he'd probably become OP. A 5 second channel is easy to cancel, but not if it's already half-over by the time you get close enough.

I was trying to to improve fiddlestick's counterplay as well as making him take more skill to play right. You have to be able to know when to go into a fight and where to go in at to maximize the number of crows you dole out, and you have to decide whether or not you need the short fear or the bit of damage now, or wait for maximum effect. While the enemy has to worry about fidd's zone control to avoid The Crows. They have to Fear the Crows.

I think that having the Crows works in some ways here, but not in others. Example: The Q applying to all targets with The Crows is fantastic, but forcing the fear to stack with more Crows doesn't work. The per Crow damage on the Drain fits though. Maybe it's a bit too much to give the second fear on the ultimate or AOE on the E, but that's just me.

I think I see what you mean about the fear stacking. If you already have dealt enough damage to get 5 stacks, then the fear sorta becomes irrelevant. I'll change that. Of course, since that fear is now easier to land, I'll have to change the ult's fear. Maybe replace it with something.

Thematically, he could also be redefined as a Demon of sorts. I'd like Fiddlesticks to be a Demon of terror and I like some or most of what you suggest. Why I like them is this: The build up to terror is more terrifying than a random jumpscare.

  • Each basic attack and [Q] will be Fiddlestick's build-up to terror escalating to a finale.
  • [P]: Stacks 'The Crows' on enemies. These stacks can only be removed by exiting combat.
  • He starts with long-range slow-moving artillery to stack, harrass and intimidate.
  • [Q]: Casts similarly to Thresh's Flay: Crow sweeps down from behind Fiddlesticks (no unit collision) into any champion infront (unit collision). No unit collision on minions. Area damage and splash effect adding Passive stacks.
  • Each stack would increase volume of target's fear, thematically.
  • [W]: PASSIVE: Fiddlesticks takes reduced damage from enemies stacked with [P] passive.
  • [W]: ACTIVE: Fiddlesticks feeds on their stacks (heals). Removes all their stacks.
  • When he's ready he'll send them a message of terror. A swinging flock of crows as you suggest. Veteran players will know he is getting closer...
  • [E]: ACTIVE: Messengers cause one single momentary Fear affect on each unit. Additionally, each passing of these crows will apply a single %# HP Magic Damage on each visit depending passive stacks on each champion (Useless if no [P] stacks). Does not remove [P] stacks. Does less damage if they're less HP.
  • They're scared but stubborn ... they should be running now. Fiddlesticks has all stacks on them ... and dives in. They know what's going to happen and moments later.... o___o
  • [R]: Fiddlesticks makes a gesture, a sound and disappears. Everyone's audio playback has slowly muted momentarily BOOM! Fiddlesticks everywhere! Fiddlesticks reappears with multiple untargetable clones sequentially disappearing within 2 seconds. (Allows more [E] ability coverage) Enemies are momentarily Silenced and confused! (Terrified) Can use [W] and [E] during ultimate. Crows everywhere, too! Local area is shaded by crows.
  • Duration of ultimate depends on each stack on enemy. While the ultimate persists his [E] will also persist.

He'd be a momentary snowballer and diver taking Swain's healing, taking Thresh's flay and taking Shaco's Hallucination (but using them his own way!). As his crows evoke fear and Fiddlesticks feeds of their fear he'll create a constancy and escalate to a grand finale.

This may not fit the role but I'd intend for him specifically to: #build-up fear and ultimately terrify them while teammates consume them.

I absolutely LOVE the idea of a scary champion, but I believe there are other ways of getting to that goal. First of all, why are there copies on his ult? I think his ult is just as intimidating as it is now (just change sounds and effects of course). Also, Fiddle shouldn't be snowballing, because that doesn't cause fear, it causes rage. People get frustrated when they fight an OP champion, they don't get scared. I think that the scary part of him should be in his visual appearance. Maybe add a few creepy whispers when he's nearby? Or how about a spooky aura around him? Fiddle should be to scary what Braum is to friendly. Your rework might need minimal revision, but the idea is still strong. Please take this criticism as friendly, as I am an avid Fiddlesticks fan myself, and I love to help fellow friends. Stay classy!

First of all, why are there copies on his ult?

It's a brief moment. Visually, it will intend to give the impression of terror as they may be flustered for a moment (like a jumpscare). "Oh, shit!", and it would be their fault for not acknowledging that he's coming.

Maybe but the gameplay is frustrating. All new champions and old kits recently are receiving visual and audio prompts for counter-play, and that's good.

By snowball I mean momentary snowballer. The time and effort for the player to build-up 'terror' has to be rewarding like stacking Tahm Kench hits. Maybe this does or does not qualify for 'snowballer' term but it was a thought to assure player's skilled efforts are rewarded.

It will give Fiddlesticks are very imposing lane presence and may actually be too strong. I'd imagine enemy champions failing to dodge his stacking of fear upon them must strongly consider staying back, and even then they're uneased. Fiddlesticks looks squishy so maybe taking him out first is best option. This very strong imposing presence could be argued for as his Passive stacks on enemies being allowed to hit ... is their fault?

Dude, could you check my Fiddle update and tell me what you think about it? I know this is kind of weird, but I really wanted to know opinions from other Fiddlesticks fans. Oh, and don't take this as a promise, but I might make a brand new splash art for the guy and i'll post it as soon as I'm done with it, so if you want, go check it out!

Cheers!Fiddlesticks

Im sorry, according to lolking you have only played 6 ranked games as fiddlesticks. 4 of which were losses.

Im sorry but in ranked, especially in the higher tiers, he is rarely picked for good reason. I may not be up there myself but it doesnt take much effort to do some research.
