Presence of Mind is now a requirement on Sona, a 30 refund is not nearly enough for these new costs

Q: 75 / 80 / 85 / 90 / 95 MANA W: 105 / 110 / 115 / 120 / 125 MANA E: 90 MANA

The lowest total cost on these abilities is 270 with a POTENTIAL 90 Mana refund, potential basically meaning you're never once allowed to set a foot away from your ADC to poke/ward because there's no time to make it back to your ADC to get the refund. At max level these abilities cost a total of 310 with the same unchanging 90 Mana refund. And just a reminder, Sona's base Mana is 340.6 – 1105.6, and the only Mana item she ever tends to even build is a item 3100

She starves herself so unforgivably fast with these new Mana costs, which all require multiple casts to provide meaningful returns mind you, and this results in Presence of Mind's Mana refund and 500 flat Mana-pool increase being a must for her to even operate now. I'm all for making it so she gets something for sticking by her carries instead of fighting solo, but she needs to actually get a reward for doing these things. That refund needs to either be changed to 30 per ally hit, or make it an even 50% refund after hitting an ally, because right now 90 potential mana is not nearly enough to make up for the absurd costs she's spending on such objectively weak abilities.

In the short time since this patch went Live, players have taken notice that they're only able to tag allies about ~60% of the time.

Like I said last week & people refused to believe me, this nerf to Sona was intentionally disguised as a "buff" to her support role. It is not. Players are already voicing frustrations at this new forced mini-game of "tag allies or get punished." A complaint that is returned from season 4 when she was first changed "tag allies or your spells are sub-optimal." Rito's answer to these concerns was adding a miserable +50 units-radius to her shit-bubbles.

The complaint back then was, Sona is weak if she's not tagging everybody with every cast. The new complaint is, Sona is PUNISHED if she can't tag anybody. Feeling punished is even worse than feeling weak. There are many points where she can't tag allies, mostly while moving around the map, but frequently also in lane & even in teamfights. Players calculate that after factoring in refunds, she spends about ~3,000 more mana per game this patch.

Tl;Dr: I was right all along.

30 of mana is nothing and it doesn't help at all!

While i agree that the changes do lead to some circumstances in duo lane where you end up losing more mana, by the later stages of the game when you are( and should be) permenantly with the team, The changes still lead in a net reduction of mana costs. This also goes for when your team has jungle involvment in lane, since you have more people to get mana back from.

That said, cant help you with the adc that runs away from your help.

Literally the first 3 items Sona support will build provide mana. item 3504 item 3107 +item 3100 oritem 3174 These changes are obviously targeting sona top which is a troll pick anyways. It is pretty easy to tag your adc with your aura bot lane as they last for a few seconds after you cast them.
