How do you play Jayce?
I just got him via Hextech.
So I would like to know the optimal tips and builds for him. Should I only build for one stance, or is it possible to build for both?

Generic Build:

Runes: AD Quints, Armor Pen Marks, Armor or Scaling Health Seals, MR Glyphs
Masteries: 12/18/0 (Thunderlords + Precision)
Full damage I see. Would help against those annoying ADCs top.
Looking at you Quinn.
I've only really played him in the mid-lane where I am against squishy opponents. It is generally pretty easy to poke and burst a target down while they can easily do the same to you, so it is a matter of who plays the lane better.
If you are looking for Jayce streamers to watch, I would recommend "Just Jayce" and "BJNA".
(or
)
myself
Thanks, btw I didn't know you played Jayce

Yes. Quinn, Jayce and Riven are my top laners. Shyvana, Vi and Sejauni are my junglers. I primarily play Shyvana in ranked so I can focus on one champion and gain skill, but I will play these others if I get top or if Shyvana is not ideal for a team comp. Shy only works if your team has CC so I use Vi or Sej otherwise. Top lane is my secondary, gave up on support, can only handle one hated role at a time. But normally I support as Leona, Soraka and Sona.
Ah.
Well I haven't played Soraka in a while, but I can give you pointers with Leona.
I played her all throughout the rotation and found a new favorite tank support.
Basically you go 0/12/18 mysteries, grabbing BoS and veteran's scars for that HP boost, beautiful early game.
For runes take armor quints, health seals, MR glyphs, and Armor marks (take AD marks if you're feeling cheeky.)
The max order is W>Q>E.
W first because it gives 60 armor and MR at max rank which is huge.
Q for reduced cooldown.
E for reduced cooldown.
Items go FotM then ruby sightstone and Locket. (Order varies) rest is mostly situational. You can kinda get away with building mostly health because of your W steroids.
Best lockdown combo is E W Q R. Its easiest to land R when you already stunned them.
In teamfights you have to choose between peeling for your carry or deciding to make their carry unable to play for a bit. Throwing your ult ahead of you is great disruption, you may stun several.
Hit W, pull yourself to the carry and lock them down for an easy kill.
Mobi boots are my favorite on her
Remember that Leona is a all in support . once you jump in somebody has to die , so make sure they die first. :)

Good tips, though I did main support for 3 seasons. I switched to jungle in S5 out of spite for ADCs XD
I like to roll my face on the keyboard gently from right to left in cannon stance, and left to right in hammer stance.
Makes sense lol.
tear/longsword on first back.
build mura -> cleaver -> last whisper
thats his core
lucidity boots are prefered or merc/tabis for tanky jayce
the rest of the build is subjective and match dependent.
ive seen dyrus focus more on
for his last items
ive also seen
for more damage oriented jayces, but ive never seen a 6 damage item jayce so i cant say what else. its usually just mura, cleaver,lw
Ah okay thanks.
Do you perhaps know the proper max order?
Q > W > E
take one point in E at level 2, then its last.
I tend to take QEQWQQ, Q>W>E
is better if enemy building Armour.
is if you are ahead and you want more damage.
Always first item then finish it
1st item mostly but blackcleaver can also effect lane and teamfights.
EDIT : Hexdrinker is better first item if you against hard AP assassin leblanc , blue square etc..
If enemy has Assasin or 2 AP
Never tried it on Him but it can work.
it feels good stealing mana from air
Works if you want sustain
Seeing this on jayce most of time in midlane as 3rd item
If Enemy has Hard CC
For That ARM Pen.
BUT
is so much better and worth risk.
Thanks for the tips.
Lol, blue square.
Never underestimate the power of
.
I love to play Jayce :D I am not very good with him, but I can give you some piece of advice.
Jayce doesnt work too good in any team comps, so I dont pick him too much, mostly when I face champions like
or when I have a poke oriented team.
If you play him top, most of the time you will face tanks, so grab teleport+flash, and Fervor of battle Keystone.
If you play him mid, you will face only squishy champions, so grab ignite+flash, and Thunderlords, so you can delete them.
You can play him with
, but I feel like grabbing
kills some potential damage. Sometimes I go without mana items if I wont poke a lot...and other times I just grab
if they have many ad champions. Also, the cdr is very good and it brings you good stats.
You can go ad Jayce if you re ahead or you want to splitpush a lot, and your usual build will look like this:
and the last item I guess it should be a defensive one....or you can go with
or
.
Also, you can build bruiser Jayce, grabbing items like
or even
for tankiness and insane waveclear. You already got a mini
on your W in melee form...and you will clear minion waves like crazy :D
Hope I helped and I also hope I didnt gave wrong indications, I am only a gold player...
Not to worry mate, I'm silver so any tips you can give me helps. :D
Assassin Jayce
Bruiser/Assassin
Stormraiders or TLD
Build full armor pene(Youmuu, black cleaver, maw, LW, situational)+ludicity. You have no need for manamune anymore due to his W's mana refund thus allowing him to use the armor pen build to it's fullest.
Although if you want bruiser build jayce that's an entirely different playstyle which I'll take no part of.
You basically play like a GP but more reliable for slightly less tank busting, huge team MS, and disengage.
i saw a jayce the other day on my team go , thormail, omens, sunfire, and GA with mercs. he did really well, and i looked his match history after game, he only plays jayce and won 11 games with that build. but i like jayce he is cool champion
