Why am I punished in competitive for another player inting and leaving?

I just played a competitive game where we had a Nasus go JG. He threw himself at enemy champions until their Darius was 5/0/0 and then he left the game which made two of my team decide to go AFK until 15 minutes to surrender vote. Why am I punished (losing LP) exactly the same as the guy who decided to int and leave? Why should I lose LP for a game that doesn't reflect my skill level at all. I'm sorry I can't 2v5 Riot???? This seems to me like a whole team getting chat banned for one of their players words in a game when they didn't say or do anything. Like your whole team gets chat banned for one person on your teaming being toxic to the enemy team. You get chat banned because you didn't stop him from saying that or something... it makes no sense at all.

There was an immediate veer into an entirely different type of subject, mid block text there, and now I'm confused.

Ok, I just want to add a bit of clarity. In those with poor standing due to toxic games (with another being toxic/trolling, not yourself. For the sake of my argument, I'll assume you have been good this entire time... I hope), it is a reflect of a loss, not of skill. It's a good part of the reason why I always make more back than I lose per game. Granted, yes I got demoted, but once I get around the muck that is a chunk of the in-game community, it won't be hard at all to make that back, and then some.

There's no good that'll come from stressing over unfair losses. They happen. It's the very reason why it's always encouraged to report those that deserve a mark on their account, and in turn, they will be punished for it as a result (though the timing of the punishment differs from person to person, and on the severity of the recorded issue).

As unfortunate as it is, that's all there is to it. Just report and move on. If you are getting too stressed out, take a moment or two to pull away from the game and do something else. I have a couple of other games I primarily play as well, and are usually on standby for moments just like this, where I simply can't take the game anymore, and can't seem to fathom why so many people are willing to act like scum.

The unfortunate part is, I'd realized after typing this, this thread may be put down due to it being on the wrong sub-forum. Which means my intent to offer positive reinforcement would have also been tossed. So... joy to that I guess.
