So um.. about Miss Fortune

9/17 PBE Update

EDIT: Hey guys, please try to read all the way through diligently. I don't want miscommunications about this thread, I'm not ripping on MF or suggesting she sucks, I just want to get my ideas across :^)

Miss Fortune is queued up for buffs on P.B.E. That's great. She's needed buffs for a long time and the massive AD ratio on her ult is .. O.K. I don't say O.K. because its not significant; that AD ratio is nasty strong. With that in mind, Miss Fortune's problem wasn't entirely in terms of damage: Before you down vote me into the depths of hell, let me finish.

  • Yes, compared to others marksmen, even Urgot and AD Ezreal, Miss Fortune is lacking trade potential. That being said, the way to win a trade late game is not always based on Attack Damage. Look at Vayne and Draven, for example; Vayne doesn't build late game damage entirely, she works well with attack speed: that is in her kit. Draven doesn't build as much attack speed, but he goes for more sustained damage, like life steal and heavy AD items, that is in his kit. How does Miss Fortune's kit take play into her build paths? Doesn't she build more attack speed to apply as many W stacks as possible in trades? Or does she stack on the armor penetration and AD scalings for a hard hitting ult? Her kit has no designated playstyle, and I feel that that is why she is in a weird spot right now, and adding a larger scaling to her ult, although very nice for her overall damage, isn't going to make her considered viable compared to more popular marksmen like Jinx or Vayne.

  • Who is Miss Fortune? How does her character correspond with her playstyle in-game? Does she use her passive for chasing or escaping or both? Does she really feel like a bounty hunter? Like a pirate who has had to fight and claw her way to power? To happiness? In my opinion, this is a complete no IN GAME: they made Miss Fortunate such a great character in the recent lore event for Bilgewater. In game, however, Miss Fortunate is the sexualized marksmen that sways her arms like a princess every time she fires her gun and literally has a passive called Strut. This needs change, she needs to become Miss Fortune; someone hostile, aggressive, and strong. She doesn't feel fun, her graphics are nice and all, but they just don't match up with who you think you're playing. I understand the trait of being cunning, but that doesn't mean she has to charm her way through the game; she can be tough. Miss Fortune is a damn pirate Riot! To wrap things up about this rambling point, Miss Fortune's kit and attitude in-game doesn't align with who she is out of game, and if she did, I feel as though she would be a much more fun champion.

So, with those small but significant points standing out.. how do we fix this? We could pump Miss Fortune up on damage steroids, but then how does she have a skill cap? How does that make her_ fun_? We could do a full-blown rework to her person to match her kit so make her feel more real.. but then she really wouldn't be Miss Fortune. Believe what you want about her recent rework during the Bilgewater event, but she is in line for a more radical change. I don't really care how Miss Fortune's kit is changed, but I want her to be a character, not just a forgotten marksman with a cool splash and graphics.

My rework suggestion as follows:

**Passive: Strut **After 5 seconds of not taking damage from Enemy Champions, Miss Fortune gains an additional 35 movement speed. While strut is active, dealing damage to an enemy champion makes Miss Fortune cocky, causing her to gain an additional 10 movement speed per second, up to a maximum of 55/75/100 bonus movement speed at levels 1/6/11.

Taking damage during this bonus causes the movement speed to decay, initially the base 35 bonus movement speed, then 5 every additional second afterwards. **Casting W, Impure shots, or damaging an enemy champion with a round of R, Bullet Time, will refresh strut to the initial 35 bonus movement speed if strut is inactive. **

Passive Two: Bountiful Huntress Miss Fortune is rewarded additional gold on kills based on the amount of gold her target is carrying; She gains 50/100/150/200/250 additional gold if the target has 500/1000/1500/2000/2500+ Gold upon death.

#Tl:dr New passive, hopefully gives her more character and more pressure with early kills. Strut base value down, potential value up; Miss Fortune is rewarded more for staying Cocky, and rewarded for well timed W and R casts.

Q: Double Up Miss Fortune fires an impaling blow at an enemy, continuing through them and hitting up to 2/3/4/5/6 targets total and applying a stack of Impure Shots to all of them, dealing 40/60/90/120/140 (+1.2 Bonus AD) Physical Damage, reduced by up to 30% the further it travels.

**Killing a unit with Double Up will cause its' cool down to be reduced by 45% and half the mana cost refunded. **

#Tl:dr Damage mostly the same, but can now hit more targets and more rewarding in laning phase, primarily for last hitting.

W: Impure Shots Passive- Miss Fortune's bullets apply a stack of Impure shots on hit, causing Basic Attacks to deal an additional 5/8/12/15/20 Physical Damage to her target. These stacks last 5 seconds before refreshing.

If Miss Fortune applies 5 stacks onto her target, Impure Shots temporarily deals True Damage for 1.5/2/2.5/3/3.5 and their healing is halved for the duration.

#Tl:dr Miss Fortune's Impure Shots feel way more impactful but no longer have an active. She also reduces her target's healing again.

E: Make It Rain: Miss Fortune unleashes a flurry of bullets at a location dealing waves of damage to opponents and slowing them.

#Tl:dr Unchanged stats, but if I had my way, would have more range and longer cast time.

Big Change incoming, Brace yourselves!

R: Bullet Time: Miss Fortune fires a barrage of up to 1/2/3 bullets in front of her, dealing 50/75/100 (+1.00 Bonus Attack Damage) Physical Damage PER BULLET.

Dealing damage to an enemy champion with a round of Bullet Time applies a stack of Impure Shots, but only one per round per champion. Miss Fortune reloads a barrage of Bullet Time every 30/20/10 seconds, holding up to 1/2/3 rounds at a time. Bullet Time has a short cast time and no cool down between loaded rounds.

#Let me explain that last one. Basically, she has a fires as fast as you can pull the trigger ultimate with a reload in between. She can store up to three rounds at max level and can shoot all three at one target, or shoot one at three different targets. These bullets DO NOT go through units. Consider it an Ashe volley that moves faster and can be shot more rapidly with a longer cool down. If this change got pushed I would literally main Miss Fortune, it would be so fun.

OK, if you stayed with me and read this far, thank you. I love Miss Fortune, I love her character, I like her kit, but she can be so much more is all. I'd really like to see her in more games with her new and improved Graphics and Character. Feel free to up vote and comment if you like the changes, and if you don't PLEASE TELL ME WHY, I would love to discuss changes and I'm open-minded, just don't be a jerk about it. Don't get Cocky MissFortune

Are you saying Miss Fortune lacks in damage?

She has the highest damage output for all ADCs early game, and she continues to have one of the highest ADC damage outputs in comparison to all ADCs. Her trading ability through her prime parts of the game (early - mid) is rarely matched, with her Q damage/reset, W passive, and W active, she doesn't need many items to do damage either unlike other ADCs.

Yeah, Draven needs items and will never outdamage Miss Fortune early game. Not only will Miss Fortune attack faster, but his Spinning Axes can hurt him much more than help him until he starts leveling them up.

I didn't say she lacked in damage Q_Q .. Riot seems to be tip-toeing around her having no damage, so they're buffing her scalings. I suggested ideas that would provide healthy playstyle for her without directly buffing her stats.

Sorry for the miscommunication :o http://img0.etsystatic.com/000/0/6514133/il_570xN.288934658.jpg

damage was never an issue with mf. I kinda liked her more before her last rework...long time ago...cause she was one of (maybe the only?) champ with a heal debuff, making her good agaisnt comps that depend on heal (this was before any grievous wounds items existed also). The way impure shots works now seems a little silly...it basically makes her an adc with good magic damage like corki or something...so she likes double penetration, and thats only cool because of the double meaning. Its difficult to itemize for it (but have any high skill players tried wits end on her?) her e is jsut bad. the slow isnt enough to matter the damage is insignificant(unless she goes ap which makes it her ONLY ability), and the mana cost is huge. the main issue people have with her that makes her less popular than other adc is she jsut doesnt have tricks. There really isnt much of a reason to pick her over some other adc. She doesnt have a dash like vayne lucian corki tristana caitlyn graves etc...her ult is extremely situational for when its useful at all...varus/ashe have very useful ults...while jinx/caitlyn/draven have nice long range guarunteed damage sort of ults that ensures damage from safe distance....she doesnt have any real cc (e totally doesnt count)...she cant really do long range poke like a kog maw or corki or varus. Her late game damage is quite respectable but its not kog maw level. And there really isnt a time where miss fortune can 'look impressive' she really is jsut a point and shoot champ its actually cen get a bit dull playing her.

I totally agree, at this point in comparison to other choices, Mf just doesn't compare. There is no designated build path for her that will size up to other late game marksmen neither in damage or stability. :(

this is just a band aid fix, they are gonna rework/change her more heavily in the next patches

Oh yeah yeah, I'm not hating on the minor changes they already had, I'm just saying that based on her P.B.E. soon to be changes, they're focusing on giving her more flat damage and heavy scalings, but in my opinion, that isn't what she needs. If the rework they're looking forward to includes stacking on her damage then, in my opinion, they're doing something wrong. Feel free to share your thoughts about how she should be reworked, I won't judge.

all i would do to MF;

make ranking her ult increase the ratio of the same 5 (maybe raised to 6) stacks impure shots instead of raising the cap to 8 -- same max damage but more realistic goal, although the ratio may need to be lowered in light of the ultimate buff

the ult change is incredibly good; the damage has pretty much been doubled come late game on a standard ADC build (it's even higher if you go off-meta), and it's noticeably stronger even at the first rank. I think that alone is enough to solidify her as the wombo carry who can do fine on her own.

ps give her a new voice it's one of the biggest reasons i hate playing her
