my friend plays lots of ranked and so do i so we don't play normals. i don't mind losing on purpose to lower my league but that actually seems Very Hard to do. if i afk during champ select would that bump me down to silver? or would it just give me a 15min ban?

Mysticman891 votesDodging games (which is the same as afking during champ select) won't hurt your mmr and will just net you bans from the queue (the duration of which increases the more you do it in a given time frame).
In order to get demoted from gold to silver, you need to drag your mmr all the way down to silver 5 level, which would involve throwing a lot of games and spoiling things for an awful lot of people, potentially earning an account ban in the process.
The proper thing to do would be to just play normals with them, or lacking that help coach them up to silver.
Definitely Bait1 votesJust get another smurf account and go 5/10 or so in promos. Either way you're seriously doing harm to your friend and the people in those queues. He'll get a inflated mmr from duoing (Solo queue games will be at a higher skill level) and the opponents will lose lp due to fighting a opponent they're not ready for.
