those bruiser items have existed for a while, before assassins started building into them.
the problem with them on quinn and graves could be solved by making them melee only, which riot absolutely refuses to do for some reason, even if it breaks the game.
and melee adc and assassins kits have problems with their scalings. most assassins have been nerfed pretty hard for bursty glass cannon builds, and bruiser items just became more reliable on them. and a lot of their ability scalings werent changed with the introduction of these items. they still scale a lot off total ad, instead of bonus ad.
Bruiser Yi has been a thing since at least Season 3. There was some guy who got to diamond doing nothing but that back then. It used to be just botrk, randuins, sv, etc. And none of those items are on your list.
Then it got a lot more attention after feral flare. Feral Flare+botrk was Season 4's version of rageblade and devourer. Same basic idea.
The thing is, melee champs with high mobility benefit a lot from survivability. That's not a new thing.
4 of those aren't assassins.
Still annoying because they can build tank, and I agree with your point. Just a technicality.
by the way, this did actually happen on occation before. i remember katarina building really tanky a few seasons back, when riot nerfed her scalings and increased her base damage.

its a similar situation. riot needs to take an indepth look at their scalings and find a way to make the squishy assassin build on those champions more rewarding than the tanky bruiser build.
Honestly, it's problem when assassins start building tank; this means that they have enough damage from 1-2 items, that they don't need to keep building damage to win the game, which implies either a problem with champion scalings, or with items. I'll leave you guys and the Riot balance department to figure out which, but I'm sure everyone has their own idea.
Tank Ekko has alway been a thing though and everything else is actually somewhat new/old. I've seen BC built on numerous champs (Ashe, Zed, Wukong, etc)
Fiora was always a bruiser....
And tank shaco always been a thing just like ap and the most popular AD shaco.
