Zyra ult cost changed to 100 mana at all levels, 3-4 champs left to go

NewplayerExp LUL··16 votes·11,769 views

Amumu Amumu 100/150/200 Vi Vi 100/125/150 Zilean Zilean 125/150/175 And the odd one TwistedFate Twisted Fate 150/125/100

These are mostly because an old balancing way left from season 2-4 (beside TF who probably has that to mana gate him early on), after that the champions released had a constant 100 mana cost (keep in mind that I do not count toggles/low CD ults like Anivia, Corki, Zoe or stacking ults like Kassadin and Kog'Maw, their cost isn't 100 for a different reason), while slowly bringing in line other champs either through reworks or direct mana costs like Zyra or Karthus last year.

Note: There's also Sylas Sylas who has 75 mana cost at all ranks and while they probably did this to make up for all the different costs of ults he can steal, I wouldn't mind Riot rising his cost to 100 :^ ) .

Also I want to be clear that these changes are for the sake of consistency, not because I think one of those champs needs buffs and that this is the change they need or something like that. So please keep comments about weather X champ is already strong or that these are not gonna bring X champ back in the meta etc. out of disscusion, this is not the point of this post. If a champ on the list is too strong to get any buffs, then simply wait till next rounds of nerfs to also bring them in line.

Reddit mirror post. Maybe they will notice this way.

EDIT: Eyy we got a mod response here And a riot response on the reddit post, maybe it will happen \o/

Mana is really a joke after 10 minutes. It used to be a limiting/strategic factor ("should i cast now or wait for a better chance?"), but now it's really not and abilities are all spammable.

Can't remember the last time I actually ran out of mana on any of these champs, and Amumu is my main jungler right now. Jungle item plus blue buffs gives plenty of mana.

The only champs who require mana management(one could even call it management) are Kassadin and Kog’Maw. That’s just due to the exponential scaling on their ults, which I’d be interested in seeing on other new champs.

If you don't you're playing him wrong.

Viktor frequently runs oom in fights if he's not got a Blue or Ocean drag, even a Ludens doesn't stop him going completely oom.

What? Mana has always been a joke after 10 minutes, even MORE so when Mana Items for mages gave lots of Mana regen over the Big Flat mana we had before.

AP JG item was changed a few seasons back, and was done so because no AP jungler other than low income Elise could actually function or be consistently viable. Even then, Elise was nerfed into the ground for awhile, so quite literally, no AP junglers were good beyond a patch or two before falling off again.

They were just too abusable, too weak, or too slow.

Whether or not how they fixed it was good or bad is up for debate.

Yes... AP junglers had an issue way back in the day and that's about it and even then they having "mana issues" didn't last long anyways. Every single other mage didn't care for mana after their first item, in some extreme cases their second item. There was a stupid amount of mana regen previously, with several masteries just flat out giving you regen, runes giving you regen and tons of items also giving it to you. Literally nobody had any issues with mana after their first or second item before. Just AP junglers and even then they were really few and far in between when compared to tank and AD junglers.

Mana has always been a joke after 10 minutes. They tried to make it a factor by removing most of the mana regen from items, but then offset that by making every item give 1000000 mana. There are only a few champions that actually do have to manage their mana.

As someone who plays Amumu and Vi: I would love if they finally normalised them in that regard.

A rioter saw the post so it might happen \o/

As an Amumu main, just leave us alone, forget about us and stop messing with us. Thanks.

NewplayerExp LUL1 votes

Sounds more like a Ryze main to me >.>, either way some mana changes shouldn't bring any nerf to him so no worries. (inb4 it triggers galio treatment)

Singed has 125 or 150 or something, iirc.

I checked his wiki page, he has a constant 100 cost, he did have a 150 cost before his rework on his passive and W on patch 7.14.

Doesn't Zyra build item 3802 anyway?

BladeSteel1 votes

Not normally, she usually goes item 3151 and item 3116. If you're mid zyra, you might start with item 3802, but support doesn't have the room/time/gold to go into that.

the few times I played support zyra with my friend I always took kills and he took CS. Just felt like a fair trade tbh, maybe that's why I assume people will have the gold for it. I do the same with support Brand. Rush the LC because base damage is good and they can't dodge forever

I haven't had mana issues with any one of those champs besides Zilean and Twisted Fate in awhile. I guess this is QoL but I don't mind this balancing system being in place because it doesn't really punish you if you build proper items for those champions

It's also why Malphite has a high mana cost on most of his abilities: it's to encourage him to get more items that have lots of mana, which are typically either strong armor or ability power items, both of which he scales well on :)

Aatrox Airlines2 votes

Malphite has high mana costs so he cantpoke literally anyone out of lane by spamming qe

i think the only champ who really suffers from this is amumu. his pool isnt the biggest and he still uses a lot of mana. a 200 mana ult is not cool

NewplayerExp LUL1 votes

Yea, him and support zil would benefit the most, as they spam a lot of abilities cuz of the reset on zil and E cd reduction + W toggle on amumu. But this is not about who suffers the most cuz of this mana costs, is of consistency sake.
