Despite the MR buffs, I still feel like there's something missing from the scaling on Shen's kit.
His identity is really odd right now. He's such a unique champion that I'd hate to see any of his abilities get changed. He used to be known as the split pushing ninja that's never really out of a fight because of his ult. His taunt can change an entire fight if followed up correctly. I get that. What I don't get is why half of his kit scales with AP and the other half scales with health.
Shen has the most even scaling I've seen on a champ with a decent early, mid, and late game. He's not absurdly strong early game because his Q scales with health and AP and his passive has a respectable cooldown. His ratios aren't super good, minus his ult to AP ratio. It's like the balance team is trying to tell us to build AP and health on Shen based off his kit. Honestly, though, you almost never build AP on Shen. Mid game seems to be where he's at his best because by then his Q is healing him by quite a bit. He doesn't do a ton of damage late game, because most people build him full tank with maybe one offensive item depending on the situation. However, he does become quite the meat shield late game. That's about all he has going for him.
I feel like more of Shen's kit should scale with health rather than AP. I realize that his passive and Q already scale off of health, and I love it. Making his ult or W scale with health would be really nice. I realize that if any of this was implemented then Shen's numbers would need to be shifted around, but having a his kit synergize with his suggested tank items would make so much more sense. I guess what I'm getting at is I don't feel rewarded for building Shen as a front line tank right now. He's a solid pick, but he's outclassed by so many more tanks that do more damage than him and scale better with health than he does.
Is there a reason why the balance team chose to base Shen off of health and AP? Is it gating him from becoming a frontline monster?
