With the AP changes, it feels like Riot delayed AP based champs' wave clearing ability.

What I mean is now it feels like it takes roughly five extra minutes for an AP mana based champ to clear an entire wave using one ability rotation than it did before this patch.

But Gare, what's changed to items to make it harder for AP champs to clear waves? Well, for one, AP items were upped in price, and lowered with their total amount of AP. Meaning this: Power for AP champs simply takes longer to get now due to the gold increase and power decrease to AP items.

But Gare, can't I just spam my abilities with mana based AP champs to clear the wave early like I've always done?? No, mana potions were removed. Now, if you expend all of your mana farming, you'll be unable to trade with your lane opponent successfully. There's a distinct choice early for AP mana based champs now, "Should I use an ability to farm a bit of a minion wave or should I use my last little bit of mana to trade with an opponent?"
