Why do people pick Riven into Fizz mid? My last couple of games this has happened to me and it never works out for Riven, I either wait until 4 and start winning trades at the cost of some lost cs or I roam and then come back and kill her in one rotation and some AAs. I am low on the ladder and these Rivens are pretty terrible but I am obviously pretty shitty too, is this supposed to be a counter at higher ranks?
The same reason why i had my mid laner last pick Yasuo when we had no AP.
Enemy malphite had over 500 armor and as an adc main i killed myself autoing him.

Does Riven counter fizz? Technically yes. Do counter picks really matter though? Not really, especially in low elo.
Well think about it like this, Riven has probably one of the highest kill potentials at level 1. When is fizz at his weakest? levels 1-3. So rather than take a passive approach and getting kinda tanky to counter fizz as your average mid laner. These players like to just straight destroy their opponents before they can get ahead. I pick pantheon into fizz if I have to mid, and just chuck spears till he crys. Finish my maw and he can never bother me.
You must have the bad luck of having the non Riven mains deciding to play riven, sorry dude that sucks.
Riven should be able to beat him though. Especially if she takes exhaust in my opinion. She should freeze the lane against you by getting level 2 before you. either Riven allows herself to be baited by the fish or the fish gets baited by the riven. Fizz level 6 isn't as huge as a problem if well timed she can cancel the knock up. Because fizz is a burst kinda guy although he can 100/0 a riven, with exhaust that won't happen, but it'l be long enough that tides can turn.
