Ekko, are you serious?

This kit is making me die laughing. Massive shield, percent health damage, 2.25 second stun, TONS of mobility, blink, the ability to instantly return after recalling with ult up, big heal, another blink, extra magic damage passive, nuke ult, a dash and 2 way large damage dealing slow. And you overtuned his base stats but that's typical on release although given the kit I figured you'd tune him normally. His kit makes Yasuos look reserved. I really think you guys have lost your minds this time how many goddamn things does one champion need?

Jesus Christ I never said he was OP, its just so much seemingly unnesecary shit on one champion.

For everyone posting the abilities of weak champions trying to fight the good fight of "Listing what the kit does always sounds strong" just count you salty whores. Count how many you can come up with and then compare it to how many Ekko has (11). I don't understand how this is even an argument he has much more than most champions its a simple fact. Plus his numbers are up which is something they do every time they release a champion, also something we all know so whats the fucking problem.

Elise

It's funny people always mention Elise because in reality she doesn't have much utility. She doesn't have much damage either nor any sort of tank stats or abilities to allow her to build damage.

She's mentioned because people fell into the misconception that more stuffed kit = more powerful.

then there's Jayce , Jayce , he either wins it all or does very little

his kit is pretty balanced and has a ton of range and damage but once he commits to a target, he either has to kill them or get blown up by teammates, etc

a personal favorite combo of mine is melee form, Q in for leap damage, instant auto attack, E for percent health damage, R, E, Q for totally insane burst damage and actually surprisingly little mana usage once you've built your tear for manamune

if the opponent is slow, you could probably throw in W there before his E/Q combo to knock off 3 quick autos or less before committing to the kill

he's a fighter, a mage, a marksman and decently tanky though still gets blown up, but it is so funny when opponents group together and you take out 40% of their hp with your E/Q combo. he can also disrupt Katarina's ult with his melee E

personally one of the only champs who outmatches him in versatility (other than dash champs) is Zed, Zed

to be fair, the main reason why she's not powerful is because she was overnerfed due to being overpowered

Here's a stuffed kit isn't really always overpowered. Blindly reciting skills of a champion doesn't make it OP.

SlytherinUmbreon5 votes

No, but it still proves having an over stuffed kit that's functioning at it's full strength usually will be.

Lucky33 votes

Oh look another qq thread that simply just recites a champion kit

Ratbert7 votes

To be fair, an "assassin" shouldn't have and ult tier cc on a skill, a literal get out of jail free card, and poke. His stun is more reliable that veigar's considering it's area and stuns longer until veigar levels it up 4 times.

Classic example of listing only strengths and not talking about any weaknesses.

EVERY champion is OP if you only look at the strengths.

georgeri13 votes

In the interest of not losing every game he's not banned in, could you list some of those weaknesses? The only one I saw was chain hard cc till he dies. That and his stun is pretty obvious.

Durzaka8 votes

His early game is fucking piss poor. His Q is a really weak farming tool, so it is very easy to deny him farm (especially when playing a ranged champion or a melee bully). He is a late game monster, so you stop him before he gets there.

Stopping him doesnt have to mean killing him. Denying people xp and gold works just as well. Not to mention he is squishy as fuck.

georgeri4 votes

Thanks. I wasn't laning against him, but by the time we hit teamfights, we couldn't touch him. Is there anything to do after he gets built, or is it too late by then?

Durzaka1 votes

You gotta collapse on him hard, and NEVER let him land a stun. if he lands a stun mid-late game, your team is absolutely fucked.

basically any form of hard cc will let you destroy him because he cant ult while cc'd (to the best of my knowledge).

But isn't that the answer to ANY champ that does strong amounts of dmg? What does Ekko have that is a weakness that you can't just use as a blanket statement? (ie, does he have bad mana pool, telegraphed abilities, ect...)

Tell me how good CC works to stop Yi most of the time.

Or Irelia

Or Olaf

using CC is a viable counter to champions that are extremely squishy.

Retillin8 votes

CC stop EVERY champion. It's not a "counter" to something if it works on everything. Doing dmg would then be a counter to everyone as well. Do you understand what I am saying here?

Saminus Maximus12 votes

His early game isn't actually that weak other than his level 1 and even then its offset in the worst lanes by building flask. He plays a lot like fizz in lane tbh, dodge enemy skillshot with e, jump on their face, q, proc passive and, either run away while the enemy is slowed or kill them if their low with your missing health damage. If you fail pot up and try again. Just like fizz he has a ton of outplay potential with smart use of his kit to negate damage, and just like fizz he snowballs like a bitch.

The main difference is that he trades off reliability on the damage on ult for far better utility with his passive q and w. Personally i feel he is overtuned right now and is too strong when played to his full potential. I predict a nerf.

Sona Ping9 votes

His Q alone is a better farming tool than everything in Lux's kit that's not a bloody ultimate.

Durzaka2 votes

yeah, no it isnt. His Q is also expensive as fuck and he cant afford to build mana or mana regen like Lux can.

Sona Ping13 votes

Patently False. His Q is cheaper than Lux's E at all ranks and does more damage on top of that and he has a 1/3rd higher AP ratio on it in addition to that. His Q can at least one shot the caster minions in lane, Lux needs AAs or spells in addition to E. His Q does **double **E's damage from Rank One.

And you have that backwards: Lux can't afford to not build mana regen like Echo can.

brad15 votes

people need to get the fuck over the "he can base and come back with ult" shit

  1. yes he can, but then he literally doesnt have his fucking ult, which is what makes him him

  2. if he does that chances are hes not going to be even half health when he ults back, so you can just kill him because hes half hp and has no ult

let the downvotes pour in

When Yasuo is released, everyone says his kit is super retarded OP, so they had to nerf it.

Rito learned their lesson, and released Bard who isn't really that OP in release, and everyone complained about wtf were Balance Team doing, and whines that he needs loads of buffs.

My god, is there anyway to please you dumb people...?

you just dont like fun champions

SexyTaylorSwift2 votes

Depends what you mean by fun. I consider a champ to be good if they are fun to play as AND fun to play against. Not champs with stupid overloaded kits that rito made just so they can make the most money.

RasCaelestis1 votes

Take Vel'Koz for example. While I may be biased since he's my second favourite champion in the game to play as, I think he's also really fun to play against. He was released relatively recently, and there is very little to complain about in his kit.

He's got a strong kit, but nothing about it is inherently "OP". The one exception might be his passive, which has enemies take True Damage after being hit by three of his abilities. (W triggers this twice if you get hit by both ticks, and R does it several times if you stand in the beam for the full duration.) Even that passive has a fairly balanced base damage that scales by level and has no other contributing factors (Example: +X%AP/AD/HP). While he does have a slow on his Q and R and a knock-up/knock-back on his E, all of these abilities are easily telegraphed, and can be dodged by any competent player. He is also incredibly immobile (even rooting himself for the duration of his ult) and has moderate-to-low scalings on his abilities to make up for his passive's True Damage. His Q is +60% AP, W is +25% AP and +37.5% AP on the second tick, E has +50% AP, and his R is +60% AP. The bases are decent, but nothing out of the ordinary as far as APCs go.

I love playing as Vel'Koz, because if you land all your abilities you feel skilled, and you don't need to rely on an overbearing kit to win lane. Going against one is fun, mostly for the same reason. Dodging his abilities makes you feel like you 'outplayed' your opponent, even if all you did was walk slightly in a different direction. You don't need to rely on dashes or blinks to outmaneuver him. His kit feels like it is perfectly balanced, and would fit in with a lot of the original champions' designs. The entire thing is made of skillshots and one ground-targeted AoE, all of which are slow-moving and have distinct cast animations, albeit relatively short cast times.

SexyTaylorSwift2 votes

Yes, Vel'Koz is a good example. If I lose to Vel, I'm like "fuk I suck. I should have been dodging this shit", if I lose to Leblanc, I'm like, "Well, she was able to pick after me so I lost the only counterplay she has...champ selection". It's not only because of his skill shots, though. There are even assassins that are in great places, like Talon. Most champs are in the state Vel is in, in my opinion at least. The problem is that rito leaves champs like Zed and Leblanc that are overly strong. The problem is that everyone rushes to play these champs. Why? Because people buy them. That's why champs are OP on release. A game centered around money makes the game meh.

doesn´t help you much if there´s an 80%slow on you or you actually want to fight back as a melee...

junglerboy165 votes

It is literally a 3 second delay. Unless you purposefully walk back into it, don't see it until too late because fog of war, or get stun locked by some of Ekko's allies, there is no way anyone (even a totally immobile champ) can't walk out of it before it drops the slow field.

from what i'd heard the enemy only sees the last second of where he aimed it. they can see the copy come up to bat but they don't know where it's batting til the last second.

didn't english that out very well. goofing around in a custom game i used his w. when i saw the swirly appear that your enemy would see i just did a count. when i got to 1 the zone landed. so i figured by that your opponent had 1 second to react. i could be wrong.

And that's plenty of time to react to it in lane, I really don't think he's crazy OP he just has too much crap.

His ult is decently hard to land, not to mention to can see it and easily just stay away from it. His Q has a huge delay before he gets the big return damage. Don't even get me started on his W delay.

If the only way you can make his kit not retardedly overpowered is to add delays on everything then he has a serious design problem.

qetzel9 votes

It is more the only way you can make delays work is to have the rewards be ridiculously high.
