Why does everyone say that Conqueror is so strong?

KFCeytron··2 votes·1,193 views

I keep trying it because it's supposed to be the OP rune that some champs are balanced around, but the stats I see for it in my games are so low. Does its real strength come from the adaptive force, which isn't tracked or recorded in any way? Because 137 damage that would've been mitigated and 555 healing in a 27-minute Morde match seem really lackluster. I mean, in that same match Triumph healed me for 2080 and granted 320 gold. Even Coup de Grace contributed 659 damage. What gives?

conqueror is too strong on specific champions and almost useless on others.

morde is one of those cases where its only useful if youre fighting tanks for a very long time, because he stacks it very slowly. phase rush is much better on morde in most cases for me personally. especially since it comes with nimbus cloak in its tree, which is really fucking strong with his ult.

Jax Irelia Urgot Riven for example stack conqueror extremely fast (almost instantly) and get way more value out of it.

this is the actual reason why the rune system is shit like it is. its extremely biased towards certain champions instead of supporting certain playstiles as originally advertised.

I had never used Phase Rush or Nimbus Cloak before, because to be honest they seemed useless. But I have to give you props; you successfully trolled the hell out of me. :) I tried this combination and got absolutely destroyed by my lane opponent because I had no dueling power and he did. 26/3 lane opponent with our 1/9 Xerath mid spamming "teamwork!" and "we got this!" while we get stomped and the fed enemy Morde (of course there are two per game) giggles. And, with my matchmaking, I somehow managed to outdamage two teammates (the Xerath - "close game!" in post-game - and our quiet jungler).

So, again, masterfully done. You tricked me very thoroughly.

lol, so as i understand you lost a mirror match? i mean thats possible, but in a regular ranked game youre not going to play against another morde, which means the outcome of the lane is not just decided between two identical champions of which one has slightly more duelling power and wins as a result.

it could also have been a lot of other factors like jungle presence, secondary rune choices (did you still pick ravenous hunter and taste of blood?), your itemization, and how well you dodged his e and q and how well he dodged your abilities, and even who ulted first in a fight between you two (if you ult first to steal 10% of his stats then he ults you to steal all of that back and more, he comes out on top).

the reason why nimbus cloak is good on morde is, because it makes it almost impossible to kite him in his ult. a lot of enemy champions try to cc him and kite him out when he ults them.

its going to be a lot harder to run away from him when he gains 100 movement speed just for pressing r, during the entire duration youre trapped with him. phase rush stacks on top of that with additional slow reduction.

maybe the rune set doesnt work for you, but it was the best one i found so far. conqueror is trash on morde when he doesnt get into very extended trades and teamfights, because he stacks it way too slowly.

My and the enemy's first two kills and deaths (meaning, each of us was 2/2 following that) were him killing me and then dying a fraction of a second later. With a proper rune, I would've killed him first and then maybe not died, pushing the snowball in the other direction.

you still dont understand the problem here.

if youre in a mirror match, then youre playing two identical champions. if youre playing equally well then the outcome of a fight between you two is only decided by which one has more combat stats.

so even when conqueror is generally not a good rune on morde, compared to phase rush of course the morde with conqueror will win.

the power of phase rush and nimbus cloak is in utility and that it helps you chasing enemy champions and prevent them from kiting you.

if youre playing literally the same champion, then yea that additional chasing power doesnt help you when youre catching up to the enemy morde (if he even tries to run, which he probably wont) and hes just 1% stronger in combat stats than you.

that doesnt mean phase rush/nimbus cloak isnt better in most other scenarios that arent mirror matches. against a ranged champion for example, it can make the difference if you even get into melee range and be able to fight them at all.

being at 99% of your maximum possible power and be able to get in range of your enemy and then clearly win, might be more useful than being at 100%, but not able to even hit your opponent and just get kited all day until you die.

You used conqueror on the wrong champ and claimed it's weak. [zombie-brand-facepalm]

Literally every Morde I see uses Conqueror (except one time that I tried Aftershock and it was okay I guess), so I figured it was a good rune for him. I've also used Conqueror on other champs (like Urgot, Jax, etc.), and it's always this lackluster. Do you have any explanation of why Conqueror is popular (fast stacking, adaptive force, makes a difference in all-ins rather than poke, etc.) like I said I was looking for? Your reply doesn't really contribute anything.

yeah, it's a shitty replacement for the old keystone fervor of battle, which was used on nearly every bruiser
