I was wondering if we could because I'm good at some champions mid, while my friend is good at another champ mid. So depending on what we need - we could switch roles. Does anyone know if this is legal?

I'm pretty sure even actual pro play has seen role swapping happen (granted in games that didn't really matter and/or they had extreme confidence in), and it's safe to say clash is going to be less strict than pro play.
So yeah confidently allowed. Probably not a great idea in most cases though, as a mid main is probably going to fair better in mid than in another role, and another role main may not be great mid compared to what they could be doing, even if they're ok on the specific pick.
