I feel like Riot is just trying to see how far they can go.
I've been thinking this for a while now, probably ever since they introduced Sated Devourer. It really seems like Riot is just trying to add as many ridiculous things and make as many people upset as possible. I'll start with the "Juggernaut" changes.
: "Let's take a champion that, while he's not really that great, the majority of people in low ELO have massive trouble handling and just straight up give him a massive buff and make it easier for him to just 1v5 carry once he gets ahead." Yeah I agree that Darius needed some buffs because past like Gold people generally know how to deal with him. However, low damage was never the problem with his kit. The problem is that he has damage up the ass so in lower level games people don't know to not fight him early game, meanwhile hes probably still gonna be pretty bad in higher level games because he's still not gonna be able to snowball and become useful to the team.
Changes look fine, good work on this.
: "Ayy lmao I got a rock." No seriously though this change looks potentially good. Although enemies being able to take it seems a bit iffy, although I can understand it when thinking about Skarner's lack of significant counterplay and wanting to add some.
: What were you even thinking? What were you smoking? "Oh yeah, I'm sure this immobile AP bruiser will viably replace a team's main damage source because we let him get a dragon pet." Riot basically said screw all the mid/toplane mains who enjoy this champion, because now you gotta play him in a role you might not even like to get his "maximum effectiveness." I haven't seen the number changes yet, so he might still be workable in a solo lane, or who knows, maybe duo top will be good with it. It's overall really dumb how they were basically like "Fear not, dedicated Mordekaiser players, for we have some good things coming his way!" Then I open Facebook this morning and find out he's supposed to be played where nobody wanted to play him.
Also, for the record, I don't play any of these champs, and I am just trying to see the sense of these changes in a 100% unbiased view although it's pretty hard.
Then there's the defensive item changes. Did MR need buffs? Yes. Did Armor need nerfs? Maybe small ones. However, when I look at the Thornmail change, I'm just confused. Why should you have to build multiple armor items for an armor item to be good at its job? Imagine the enemy team has a fed Vayne. Your first thought as a tank is probably "I should probably build Thornmail/Randuins/Frozen Heart." But now imagine that Vayne's team has an AP top and midlaner. Well now Thornmail is off the table, because if you aren't stacking armor then the item is just mitigated by 1 lifesteal item. "Well just build one of the other ones." But oh wait, those got nerfed too. There's also the fact that Vayne doesn't actually care how much armor/hp you have because of the whole %hp true damage thing but that's not what I'm here to talk about.
What else do we have in here..? Oh right, Lee Sin and Zed buffs! Just in time for Worlds! Gotta have those #LCSBIGPLAYS champs be the strongest, right? Here's a question: Why? Give me a legitimate reason why Lee Sin is getting buffed when he's still a 2nd tier jungler, consistently being picked in pro play when Gragas and Rek'sai were picked/banned. It's not even like he's unviable: he's far from it. The Zed buff, while unnecessary, doesn't bother me nearly as much since Zed's nerf was actually meaningful, but I still have nightmares about whenever Zed is FOTM, because as someone who mostly plays immobile mages when I'm mid, there's next to no counterplay aside from "lol just get a Zhonya and your mana item before level 6 np dood", and the Zed nerf actually gave significant counterplay since he can't just jump on you and pop you and teleport back all before one of your spells even finishes casting.
Lastly I'll just mention the Ahri skin. It's a cool skin and I know a lot of people have wanted a "schoolgirl Ahri" skin for a while. But can you guys just think for a second that there are champs other than Ahri who could use a skin? She just got Challenger Ahri like 6 months ago and Popstar maybe like a year before that. I'm sad because Syndra is one of my mains and she just got a totally garbage skin a couple months ago, and now she's probably not gonna get another skin for like 2 years.
TL;DR I'm not writing a tldr, I want people to read through and discuss, not just skim through.
