I want a balance team employee to tell me if this is intended (melee champions are a joke)

i want some riot employee to tell me if this intended.

a ranged champion can buy tank stats and outtrade a melee champion in melee range, despite getting caught out of position and kited with autoattacks and spells. notice how ignite is not up for the ranged champion, which is nonetheless able of finalizing the kill despite getting ganked by a leona.

now i am fully aware that melee champions are a sad joke in this game, especially toplane, but i'd really like a balance team employee to tell me if it is intended for a ranged champion with a slight lead to badly outtrade a melee champion in melee range despite mispositioning and getting caught by an ulted singed, and never leaving melee range after that.

in case it is intended, i'd also appreciate to know why the ranged champion is indeed given the extra range on his autoattacks and spell since he pretty clearly doesn't need it, given that he will win the melee ranged trade.

in case i don't get an answer i will keep posting this question on the boards.

This seems intended here, yes. The ranged champion in question invested gold into MR shredding and MR, while the primarily AP-damage melee champion bought no defenses that help against that and walked into multiple mushrooms. Singed really doesn't have a lot he can stick on that Teemo, whereas Teemo's build shreds through Singed's defenses.

first of all i've lost a similar trade to a frozen mallet teemo with no mr, and that was actually a lot uglier than this one, but i have no clip.

that said i had 12 mr from runes, 25 mr from mercs, 300 hp from rylais, 60 from dorans ring, as well as a corrupting pot for regen, plus 55 mr from ult. at this point in the game building any more MR would have been an inferior choice to building hps for defense and ap for damage. rylai was simply my best item for trading with teemo, and yet he won a melee range trade with a melee champion. you can ask high elo singed mains for reference.

in any case, if intended then i'd still like to hear the answer to my second question. why giving the champion extra range if he doesn't need it to win trades. it's overkill to have someone being able to kite you perfectly, and yet making him win anyway if he messes up his kite.

That doesn't surprise me, as Frozen Mallet lets Teemo excel further at kiting. I'll also point out you hit three mushrooms, without which you would have beaten the Teemo fairly soundly.

Sure. But Teemo is a decent duelist against someone whose primary damage is DoTs and max health from Fling. You'd have had him (or pulled ahead) had you not followed him so much, but instead you chased into three mushrooms.

He doesn't really mess up his kite -- you chase him into three mushrooms, and that's about 500-600 damage you didn't need to take.

i stepped on three mushrooms, he stepped into 14 seconds of poison trail. as a ranged champion. 14 seconds. in melee range.

and the frozen mallet example was no different, for he didn't really kite me any harder than this one. he just followed me in melee range into my poison trail and won, while taking autoattacks during the time.

he shouldn't have been reached in the first place since he has W, but he messed up. and so instead he got flinged by an ulted singed and took 14 seconds of poison trail while being autoattacked in melee range. apparently great gameplay! at least i can hear as justification that my ult is just meant to be garbage compared to his.

At max rank, 14 seconds of poison trail is 1416 damage, and a Teemo at that level has about 1608 health and a ton of MR. You only get off one fling and about five auto-attacks, and he's got a lot of MR. You really weren't doing as much damage in that match-up as you could have: it's not like you were sitting there getting off every auto-attack possible.

i just noticed my recording canceled the first few seconds of the fight and didn't show my first fling. so it's two flings on a teemo from a singed with 55 ap from ult + 6 from runes + 90 from rylais. two flings and 14 seconds of poison trail + 5 autos are not enough to kill a ranged champion in melee range. hilaryous. might i ask again why he thus conserves ranged status? since he actually doesn't need it to win trades with melee champions.

i orbwalked to the best of my capabilities. how many more autos could have i sneaked in, in a similar trade? singed is not exactly blessed with attack speed.

He does against most melee champions because -- outside of his blind -- he's actually pretty damn weak in trades. Singed just happens to be not especially good at dueling people like Teemo, his build was stronger than yours in that match-up by a good margin, he had a gold lead on you, and you missed a bunch of auto-attack opportunities and walked into mushrooms.

I'm sorry, but what happened here was mostly you misplaying and being behind in gold, not Teemo being brokenly overpowered.

In 14 seconds? Probably about 4 more than you had.

literally 0 ap teemo taking autoattacks and poison trail damage in melee range from an ulted singed. but i mean it's only logical that his ult must be more powerful than mine since i am playing a joke melee champion into an omnipotent ranged that can kite me perfectly but even if he messes up it's no big deal, since he's not gonna take damage in melee range despite having abilities for ranged combat.

He had MR to mitigate your combo from ALL his items (except item 1082 ) and you only had mr from item 3111 , He shredded your MR by orbwalk auto-attacking you with item 3091 AND that also stole your MR to make him tankier vs your magic damage. AND you stepped on 3 shrooms.

Also he had item 1082 stacks and you have no magic pen.

In all seriousness, it took the following for him to kill you while he died.

  1. Two shrooms.
  2. Building his items specifically against you.
  3. A gank for 2v1 towards the end.

With all of these factors, he managed to go even vs you while even the ganker took some damage.

Not to mention this is one of those matchups where you are supposed to just scale and be annoying to teemo`s team more than teemo can deter yours.

this is a matchup where you are supposed to have no agency in the game because you are not allowed to play a laning phase, and that's because riot cannot balance league of rangeds in a way that permits to melee champions to win trades in melee range.
