Do deaths affect your own champion?
Besides the fact that if you get killed, the enemies involved will get extra gold and you will lose time to get cs and such, do your own deaths affect your own champion?

As in, do you lose anything for dying? No, the only thing you lose is opportunity costs. That's to say, xp and gold from minions/monsters in the jungle. As well as pressure on the map.
No. Your deaths have no negative consequence.
It gives your laner gold, exp, and possible rune benefits, but it has no detriment to you directly.

Dying does have negative consequences. If you are on a killing streak you give the enemy team or player a ton of extra gold that they can use to pull their team to victory, while you are dead the enemy player/team can get objectives like towers inhibitors , dragons, rift herald or baron. During the laning phase the enemy laner can push in the wave, giving that person a CS lead and denying you a varying amount of CS depending on your summoner spells and if you have TP on CD.
Dying late in the game can easily turn a hard fought victory for your team into a bitter defeat when the enemy team manages to get an ace and they have enough time to kill your nexus.
Dying = less overall gold and experience. Leveling has a gold value btw since it gives more stats just like buying items does.
Dying while enemies are in base and you're trying to defend (even if it's somewhat working out for you) then sure I guess dying would be a bummer.
