Then the other day I realized one of my more favorite ADCs counters him slightly... (He's the only one who comes close and with a very small pick rate too..)

It's been a while since I played him and I didn't know anything, So I was like "I need a general build..."

Can confirm it does a TON OF DAMAGE. and with a pretty legit support you could wreck house..

Not sure why more people don't play this guy...

Jhin's W as Q

Morgana's W and Ulti. as E and R

and Teemo's E as his W (Not as powerful as teemo but its Magic damage on hit up to about 26 extra damage.)

Now instead of being sick of Jhin not only because of his huge pick rate, but also the fact he's on free week.

I'm going to enjoy SMASHING HIS FACE INTO THE GROUND!

Varus doesn't have anything to oppose to divers unless his R+ Run away hoping they don't have any sort of CC.

Varus is extremely good when there is a frontline that disrupts the enemies or protects him from divers. Jhin doesn't suffer them as much since he can litteraly oneshot with his AA+Q+DFT and has a root on demand.

You should see what he does with Chogath once they hit 6 ;D

Varus is good against him but not overly good in general (expecially if compared to Jhin), that's what I was saying.

I love playing TahmKench with Varus As Tahm actually has quite high damage if he can just get to his target which he easily can with Varus CC... and he can also offer protection to Varus from divers

(Though really I mostly just play Tahm since I find him fun... I don't feel like he is particularly good at winning games since he is so lacking in teamfights most of the time)

Reason why I chose to play Varus and not Tristana. I'm tired of my teams having no real CC

Like typically most teams I get at this elo in normals.. Yasuo LeeSin Gangplank Ryze (Support)

and yea they'd all be AD and the "Support" will go full AP without even getting a support item... xD ahhh

But yea.. I've been looking at him and Ashe lately... If My team wont choose CC well I guess the ADC will have to make the initiations...

Kalista has a bit of a Knock up CC but its up to the support to control and.. she's in a pretty bad spot right now.. So I can't rely on her..

I'm curious though, how is Varus different from Ashe? I feel like they both play kind of similarly, but Ashe with the better ult.

Uh, Varus has a much stronger/longer poke than Ashe, and he has %health detonations, which also add some magic damage.

Ashe has permaslows, vision and a much more reliable auto steroid.

Varus is fantastic for siege-comps due to his poke, waveclear and AoE CC.

If you happen to get a poke-oriented mid-laner (i.e. Lux, Xerath, Ziggs) when playing him, the combination is hilarious.

I'm more sick of ad item tbh .... ghostblade, runaan and deathdance (on certain champ) are just to damn good against every target/build

Yea but they're going to change the items eventually..

I just hope they keep ghostblade as an ADC item. Twitch counts on it a lot without building the other items..

Which is a pretty good adc build..

Deathdance came with the marksman update.. it's supposed to be used on ADCs.. xD but item 3072 is better for Auto attack dependant ADCs whereas item 3812 is good on ADCs that use abilities more.

However I could do with ADCs not building

item 3147 duskblade item 3071 Black cleaver.

these can be (Melee only) for all I care.

i ban jhin. every time i possibly can. his autos chunk 60% of a squishie hp late game. and his early game is probably the best of any adc

His early game isn't actually that good? Since early game he doesn't actually have that much more AD compared with other ADC's (and he is still stuck with that low AS) and early game DFT doesn't actually add much (since it has so incredibly low base damage)... and Fervor of battle or warlords are often adds way more power to the enemy ADC then what Jhin gets out of DFT early game Though his W root is really strong as gank assist or with some supports which can make good use out of it

Though his mid game especially with armor pen is absurdly strong

Varus is simply better as a mid laner. Varus bot lane isn't impossible, but you'll get more mileage in the mid lane. With that said, most of the time you're gonna need magic damage from your mid lane. This combination of reasons is why you won't see Varus too often.

It's the meta right now.. When the changes riot plans to make to the items comes out you will see crit items again.

Crit is very powerful, but it spikes a lot later because it relies on your crit chance and AD. You don't spike hard with an IE alone. You won't spike hard with a PD alone either. Both? You're decent, but still not there yet. A bit of armor and your damage falls off. But with just one ghostblade, an enemy ADC can already be stronger than you with a single IE or a single PD, not to mention the penetration makes damage control more difficult (if you lost lane and quickly buy a cloth armor to stop the snowball).

From my own observations (I'm a crit maniac who's tried crit chance and crit damage, and still use them even now), crit builds tend to work better vs squishy comps. This is because your damage becomes more "bursty" rather than DPS (and superlategame, they're pumped out at ~2.2 AS anyway). Zed rushing at you? He eats 2 crits before he reaches you, and as soon as he reappears from his ult, eats a 3rd and dies. You'd usually have to auto many more times if you're utilizing on-hits/AS and that can sometimes be difficult to achieve.

Draven, Caitlyn, and Ashe are good counters to early game Jhin. Draven and Ashe (Draven more so) have the potential to out damage him quite a bit. Least, this is what I've found works well.

It helps to pick a support that can CC lock him out from doing damage though as reassurance.

Varus item 3115 item 3006 item 3165 item 3146 item 3135 item 3089 . I prefer this build. It is nuts late game where the three stacks of w will do >50% max health, while the 1.0 scaling on your ult makes it so you have a lot of burst (not to mention it can spread).

I once had a team Yasuo Zed XinZhao Taric KogMaw (me). The enemy Gnar and Yorick gleefully bought their item 3047 and item 3075 on top of other things, perfectly proud of their final 300+ armor builds without MR.

Until they met me in the teamfights, who trolled both them and my own team by not announcing my (original) intention to go AP. KogMaw item 3115 item 3020 item 3124 item 3091 item 3146 item 3116 . "WTF KOG DAMAGE".

I think as long as you have a source of sustained damage, it doesn't matter if it's magic or physical, it just happens that physical have better penetrate itemization against armor compared to magic against MR. But in cases when you expect lots of armor and little MR, sometimes it's just better to take the AP path than having to invest in a lot of penetration. The champs that can do this: Teemo Kayle KogMaw . Not sure if AP Varus plays like them too.

I bought him recently actually because I got Dark Star Varus in a box, and I can confirm he is VERY strong atm (unless your support ditches you because Varus is "non-meta" [3 times this month, really?])

I did take him toplane once though and rekt a Riven. xD I guess people say hes a better mid... You can try that.. and when the ADC fails you become backup? xD
