Tell me your first champion and your favorite champion

Desolas Arterius·10/28/2016, 7:29:32 PM·16 votes·3,824 views

**Edit: **Thank you so much everyone who has responded so far! I didn't think this many people would comment :D It makes me really happy to hear all your stories and see you talk about your first champions and your current favorites! Thank you again!

I'm very curious to see what everyone's first champion was, and who their current favorite is now. Did your first champion remain your favorite now? Did they help you get into the game further, or just help you get in initially? Basically, I want hear more about the why you picked them rather than the who.

If you have more than one favorite that's okay, though I would at least try to limit it to 5 (one for every position if you want to!)

I always feel that the champions really help bring players into the game more than people realize, and it's their identities that help us remain interested in the game outside of the gameplay.

For me, Sona was my first champion I ever played. Funny enough, she still remains my favorite to this day. I pretty much fell in love with her appearance and her old kit when I was first learning about the game, and thanks to her being on sale and the free RP Riot used to give to new players I was able to buy her instantly :D I loved her simple kit because at the time I was utter garbage at the game haha. So the simple to follow, yet tough to master, kit of hers was amazing and I always kept practicing on how to better use her passive to deal the most damage while activating her auras when needed. Her design was lovely old and new, mostly because she resembles Hatsune Miku who I also love so much :P But I just loved how elegant and beautiful she looks. Quiet, polite, almost intoxicating sometimes. (And yes, her tits are fantastic!). Her voice was also great to me. Knowing that only I could hear her kind of made me feel special when I was first playing (as silly as that sounds). I just really connected to her design and haven't stopped since!

While she's not as strong as she used to be, I do like how her power is in a happy medium at the moment. She isn't weak, but not overtly strong either. She's fairly balanced support-wise, but she could use a little tuning (kappa) to her abilities when it comes to her playstyle identity. I do have my gripes on some of her abilities, but overall I still love her and will always try to play her when I can :D

She's still my favorite support to play to this day, and I even used to take her mid before her rework (on-hit AP Sona was fun back in the day). I have some other favorites now that I love playing, but she will always remain Number #1 in my heart as my favorite champion ever <3

Extra: I've even cosplayed as her because I love her so much :D (though no pics right now because I don't want people knowing what I look like :P)

Please let me hear your thoughts on your favorites and your firsts! I absolutely love hearing your stories on why you fell in love with that champion and who your new favorite is and why~

I can't remember the first champion I bought but the first champion I played was Ashe with item 3075

I think my first actual Champion was MasterYi. I remember the good ol' days back at the end of Season 2 where I went mid and rushed Warmog's Armor... Aah, good times....

Currently, my favorite champion is Kled, due to his ability to turn around the fight for the better with his passive (so happy its getting buffed, even at the cost of power from his W, feels fine to me on PBE), and ults are so satisfying when latching onto Ezreal, and have him bust a Blink and his summoner 4 and Thresh's lantern, yet still getting caught and promptly murdered.

There can be only 1 eating machine of doom, feasting on the fear of his enemys, Omnomnoming even the wierdest looking minions!!! Some may look like bunnys, jumping wierdly around, others are literally a fish with a stick, aka. "fishsticks" and some are hard as a rock. But nevertheless, EVERYTHING WAS AND WILL BE EATEN BY THE ONE AND ONLY TRUE OMNOMNOM MONSTER OF THE VOID, ONLY THOSE WHO SEEK TO BE EATEN ALIVE, WISPER THE NAME IN FEAR, THE EATER OF THIS AND EVERY OTHER WORLD, THE ALL MIGHTY..... Sona First Champ. I was like "I see buttons, and ..other things..., and how do I reload? Is it that plus sign, because I only have 3." My friend should have explained abilities a bit better.

Tristana First main. I probably went an average of 5-30 or something in every game until I had enough IP to buy Nocturne.

Gnar Favorite. He's got a lot of depth, so gameplay never gets boring.

i think my first champ was rammus , or master yi http://www.lolking.net/summoner/euw/21335235 Sona her gameplay isn't exeptional because as a master tier player there is nothing i can do to seperate myself from other non-dumb sona players.

but god, i love so much her theme (music) i don't find any champions around music in dota 2, and her look. she's how i imagine girls into classical music

Well, the first thing I did was the tutorial. So I'm pretty sure that means by first champion was Garen or Ashe. One of those two, it's been so long, I barely remember.

Can't remember what champ was in my first real game. I want to say it was Urgot, but I could definitely be wrong. In a game full of mages, and handsome people, and paragons I wanted to play the ugly robot crab monster. Hell yes.

That said, my favorite champion, the first champion I bought, and honestly the reason why I started playing LoL in the first place is Pantheon. Hell yes, in a world where everyone is a monster, or a mage that can shape mountains, or a sorry excuse for a knight that thinks the proper way to use a sword is to spin around like a top. There was one soldier who could kill them all. Pantheon, a spartan warrior. And his kit was pretty perfect for him/me. I had a bit of lag so no skill shots was a huge plus. He had no cowardly abilities to run from his enemies. And while admittedly, when I started playing his E was kind of shit, that got fixed eventually, and it still feels great watching as everyone in front of you just gets shredded. And his ult was actually global! That was great to being able to reinforce the line anywhere. And his design was awesome. Ok, they for some annoying reason went with 300 style diaper instead of an actually accurate pteruges, but you couldn't really see that from normal view. The rest was reasonably accurate weapons and armor. The only other champion like that was Xin Zhao.

He's still my main. I still find him great fun. The E change that came years ago was a welcome buff, a little sad to see the ult lose the global ability, but it's still really fun to goomba stomp people when it happens.

Phairdy10/28/2016, 9:19:20 PM2 votes

First champ i ever bought was warwick, reason being i came from dota and i used to Play a lot of bloodseeker on there. His kit seemed pretty similar, the whole Idea of chasing people doen when they are low and such. I have mained him in season 2 though.

Right now ezreal is my favourite champ. He is do much fun to Play since he is so versatile. And all the nifty things you van do with his delayed abilities. Mike dodging cc or ulting tahm even he has eaten you so you survive without his devourer damage.

TheHappyReaperz10/28/2016, 9:29:13 PM2 votes

The first champ I picked up was Aatrox . Back in those days I didn't know there was an AS cap, so I just bought every AS item I could, and stabbed people to death. I chose Aatrox because I loved his design. He was a winged war demon-thing, with a living sword. What's not to love? As for my current favorite, still Aatrox, but Tahm and Kled are a close second and third. I love their voice lines, and their single target damage playstyle is my favorite playstyle, since I'm pretty shit in teamfights, as my computer will drop to around 9 frames anytime one breaks out.

First champion I've brought with RP: Aatrox. I still play him sometimes but whenever I do I regret it : ^) First Champion I've actually played : kha'zix and aatrox. I still play a lot of kha'zix even doe I been having a bad time with k6 recently. Favorite champion: Prolly Yi atm. It's challenging while fun and it's a high risk high reward pick too.

first champ i got was lux, played her all the way to lvl 30

favorite in terms of funness, vi (but im trash with her) favorite in terms of skill with, jhin (however that does not mean im good at him either)

Arakadia10/28/2016, 11:30:30 PM2 votes

My first one was Kha'Zix, I just stacked Righteous Glory because I thought it gave the most HP. And I always went mid and evolved whatever looked coolest. TF was my first main.

My favorite champ is Bard by far.

Anivia was my first champ, still one of my favourites too

I loved her W so much because I played Starcraft 2 back then and it reminded me of protoss forcefields

Catastrop10/29/2016, 12:06:09 AM2 votes

My first champion was Fiddlesticks. I played him everywhere....well everywhere but jungle because I sucked at it and ADC for obvious reasons. He was the champion that made me start playing this game, I had so much fun with him back in the days. 1v2'ing at top lane and ganking my own lane from wraith camps at mid was the best. However, as time progressed he became constrained to jungle and I had no desire to play that role and as a result I eventually moved on.

These days my favourite champion, while I have a few, Lissandra is definitely the one that's my most favourite. Her lore, playstyle and general aesthetic appeal to me in every way.

Justin010/29/2016, 12:08:50 AM2 votes

Ryze first, probs the most disgusting spell rotation in the game pre rework, and even now q cooldown cancels are pretty amazing.

Favourite right now is either Jhin or Thresh. So satisfying.

HadesBlades10/29/2016, 12:42:23 AM2 votes

First: Morgana

Fav: Katarina

OKAY while i am a die hard fan of morgana and always want her to stay the same she is kind of stale so i moved to kata and i just love her kit's smoothness and quick play decisions.

ninjaroxas10/29/2016, 12:43:03 AM2 votes

My first champion was poppy proply because i think small people with weapons bigger then them look really cool. She's was also my first main and still is one of my favorite. However my first champion i fell in love with was taliyah i just loved her kit and the way her w used to work before they changed it and proply has my favorite ult in the game. Right now janna is my favorite and i got her star guardian skin only a few days ago so yay :D

RavenMagus10/29/2016, 12:55:01 AM2 votes

First champion was Anivia

I always liked playing casters in DotA and she was on free rotation when I started playing (so very very long ago). Plus I like birds, phoenixes especially, so she seemed a natural fit!

She's still one of my favorite champions but it's hard for me to pick a single favorite. I love all kinds of AP champions and I have rank 7 mastery on 9 of them (of which Anivia was one of the first).

Hollandiae10/29/2016, 1:32:28 AM2 votes

It's been a while since I first played and I don't remember too well what my first champ was.

I wanna say it was Lissandra, and I still think she's really cool (despite not owning the champ).

My favorite champ right now is definitely Soraka. Something about calling a star down on the head of your enemies and turning it into heals is super satisfying.

Chikarda10/29/2016, 1:34:30 AM2 votes

Started League late season 3 playing nothing but Ashe till I got enough IP for Tristana , followed by a huge IP save for Jinx . My favor changed over and over again until I found Twitch and Lulu

QueenAqua10/29/2016, 1:38:00 AM2 votes

My first champion was Annie and it was mainly cause she was adorable, though it was also because my fiance suggested her to me as an easy champ to learn and learn how to play the game with. She still remains one of my favorites, but I'd say my favorite champ overall is Jinx. I love my crazy gunner. I loved her when she was announced. Her personality and abilities are just so nice to use. And that feeling when you snipe someone across the map with her ult is one that you just can't replicate. Seeing your ult hit with a satisfying BOOM as they die.

Luigrein10/29/2016, 1:52:08 AM2 votes

First: KogMaw He will always have a special place in my heart even though I am terrible at ADC now that I'm not playing other people who have no clue what they are doing.

Favorite: Galio Bulwark is love. A good ult is amazing, but the teamfight deciding ult to broken by CC, used to grab only one person etc. ratio swings the average to bulwark for me.

Other favs: Trundle My first and still favorite jungler, and old Karma , allowed to get some gold and paired with a bruiser she was great.

When I first started playing, I used heimerdinger. My brother told me about the game and told me I should try heimerdinger because he thought i was annoying like the donger. I loved watching people walk into my turrets and realise their mistake and I killed them while walking away. I got my first Penta with him my using my ult turret and zhonyas. I also loved his ult and how I could choose which ability to upgrade. I next started playing Shri when I wanted more of a challenge but she wasn't what I was looking for. I liked ahri's mobility but I also didn't like that her mobility was on her ult so I started looking for others. I was thinking about buying azir but after trying him in his free week while he was cool, he doesn't really fit my playstyle. I tried others like ryze, twisted fate, Annie, and Cass. I liked the burst from Annie but i didn't like how straight forward she is. I liked the dps of Cass and ryze but I couldn't do it consistently . Then Viktor was on free week. I really liked his burst and wave clear. I also liked his upgrade on his abilities from the item and his synergy from rylai's. Viktor also got that speed up on his q after the upgrade and I loved how good it was to chase people down. My favorite ability is the lazer and I love to shoot people down with it. And I love his zoning potential with his w. He has my favorite design of machine being perfection and how others are imperfect. It makes me feel supior to them which I like.

I played league the first time in season 2 or 3 (I think 3). My friend made me play the game and showed me some of sp4zie's videos. I was very negative to the game but I tryed it. I played Ashe because I always liked the archers in games or movies and thought they where cool (didn'd know Varus existed at the time). I was an nightelf hunter in WoW and I loved Legolas from Lord of the rings. Then after 3 botgames I got bored of restarting over and over and desited I didn't like LOL.

Midseason 5 about a day after Ekko release I was bored and downloaded league again. I remember watching the free champion rotation and falling in love with Twitch theme and looks. I remember Ekko themesong and thought his login screen was so cool. In the noob free champion rotation I picked MasterYi. I played yi constantly and really loved his playstyle building item 3153 and then item 3087 every game. My first buy was Katarina. I knew she and Yi are both assassins so I bought Kata. I used my Yi build on Kata (xD) and it didnt work that well. Then I bought Yi because he went of the free rotation.

My favorite champion now is Trundle. He reminds me alot about playing yi back in the days. Charging at people to smack them with my aa with all my AS from bork. I also love the sustain from his ultimate and his chomp (Q) have a really satisfying sound. It feals so nice when I chomp my enemy and get so much health back and steals their AD. It is also funny to make them smaller with my ulti [slayer-jinx-catface] My first games with Trundle I used my master Yi build with the Bork and statick shiv, I played him bot. I didn't know how botlane worked so I played him supporrt built full damage and took all farm and kills to complete my build. I still builds first item bork but now I know its a better idea to go tanky afterwards.

Before I actually played this game my brother would play and he bless his soul showed me every champion in the game, their skins, their abilities, etc.
I always liked characters with masks in video games, movies, etc so when I saw Kass/Mal/Jax I wanted to play them but my first champion I think was Warwick " I think" it's been like 3 years so maybe it wasn't but pretty sure it was. I played WW for like a week and just got tired playing him because at the time I felt like before 6 was the most boring champion known to mankind; AA 24/7 and every know and then do a little "twist Q" even today I find no reason or fun in playing WW.

Favorite champion would have to be MonkeyKing. I'm a Star Wars fan and the Master Yi skin the "chosen YI" skin made me want to main Wukong as I liked his lore and I mean he is the protege to Master YI and at the time I thought Riot would do a "Chosen Wu" Skin with like a Staff Lightsaber but sadly Wu doesn't.

NiamhNyx10/28/2016, 7:55:44 PM2 votes

My first champion was Ashe because I started playing back near the end of season 1.

The first main champion I had was Ahri, Then Lux, Then Swain, then AD Tf Bot. Then near the end of season 2, I bought my current main and overall favorite champion, Sona.

AcidTheWarlock10/28/2016, 8:18:56 PM2 votes

1st champ was Kassadin. I just thought he was the coolest thing ever and I couldn't wait until I got him.

Now I never play him.

It's a big mix-up between Ryze and Swain, Rumble, Brand, and Cassio, but I don't have enough games to really consider any of them my main or my favorite.

Although I do love me some Yorick.

Handy Sandy 10/28/2016, 8:20:22 PM2 votes

My first was one of the starter ones Ryze

My favorites would be Syndra Orianna Azir Karthus cause can't pick 1

O Fallen Scholar10/28/2016, 8:20:40 PM2 votes

Back in S1 there wasn't many champions so I started with Katarina and moved to Ryze. Then played Shen a ton. But eventually moved back to Kat.
