Please don't leave Skarner's spires as they are now

First off, I appreciate and like the fact that Riot is willing to try some very new and creative ideas on champs. That being said, this new Skarner passive is too "feast or famine", which was what the first rework was trying to get away from. If you're ahead, you will have vision of the enemies jungle without needing wards and places that are similar to trundle W's. If you're behind, you give the enemy free gold and more vision over your own jungle, thus putting you even further behind. Furthermore, they make invading for both teams nigh impossible with the extra vision they provide.

I can't really say what to change the passive to, but just don't leave it like it is now.

The nerf to Righteous Glory also indirectly nerfs Skarner, because that's often one of the first items you rush to be good still. The passive only provides vision for 10 seconds after capturing it rather than while you have it, but it still is a passive that gives 30 gold for free to the enemy team at the start of the game, and will continue to give them gold depending on how they use it.

Why would you care about these spires? The small and specific areas where they make Skarner stronger generally aren't enough for teamfights. A passive that only helps in very specific situations seems like a generally bad deal, where just about every other champion has a passive that helps them do what they do.

The bonus is similar to Tundle W in nature, a zone in which the champion gains combat buffs. While not likely making or breaking a teamfight, they still give Skarner a zone in which he will be able to trade more favorably and have a slightly bigger impact in skirmishes. You are right though, his passive is only situationally good and will not really help him in the grand scheme of things.
