Experienced Ranked solo/duo que unfair and unbalanced teams

I was the highest ranked person on my team in Silver 1, but I later found out there was a player in Gold 1 promotion on the other team. My team consisted of 2 unranked players in placements and the other two were silver. I believe the other team had an unfair advantage with four silvers and one in gold 1. Maybe someone can explain this better to me?
