Tips to fight Kled as melee?

Kled, I don't have the slightest clue how to beat him...he has: -Almost twice your HP with maybe only a ruby crystal -A lot more movement abilities than most top laners (aside from maybe Renek, Fiora, Poppy because W, not Riven because Kled is more instant) -A hook that you can only hope he misses at melee range (most champions don't have a long enough dash to get out) -70% of his HP he can get back for free if your fight lasts longer than 3-5 seconds -An ult you literally cannot outrun as any top lane champion but Quinn

So, I can't kill him because he has extremely absurd base hp, I can't outrun him because his CC and abilities are far better combined than nearly every top laner, I can't one-shot him because he has a free invulnerability, and I can't poke him down because he'll get his health back if I all in. On top of that, he just sorta deals 1/3 of your hp every time he goes in and I tried damaging on his CDs but that didn't work,. He's one of few champions who can just straight-up 2v1 level 3 with next to no visible advantage.

Got any tips for fighting him early? If you're going to use an example scenario champion, preferrably Darius, Shyvana, Nocturne or Shen.

If you check my match history you'll see I play Noc top. High damage early, tank late-game, good utility as a top laner and can beat any matchup except maybe 3.

Edit: holy shit his wiki, he has such a loaded kit man...

If trying to kill him: You have 2 options - Dismount him and immediately kill him (do not hesitate as the champ can quickly remount).

Or Get him close to dismounted, back off, wait for your cds to come up, and then re-engage and blow all your cds to finish him off.

Also, if you are going to dismount him but don't intend to finish him right then and there, dont let him stay melee range and get a auto-Q off because then he'll be at 40% courage immediately after dismounting. If he is dismounted and at 0 courage he becomes extrmeely vulnerable to a gank and will probably just back, unless his jungler is on the way.

Also, try to keep track of his w proc. It's not an ability that he uses. It just procs as soon as he autos, and in lane it has a long cd (16 seconds i believe). So if you see him use his w on minions you can immediately go in for a trade and he wont have the attack speed and %hp dmg to trade back all that well.

Another weakness is that his ult can be relatively easy to avoid depending on where its placed. You generally cannot escape him just by running directly away from him but if you run perpendicularly from the vector you can end up juking him completely.

A few other things to note are that his q lasso vector is extremely small so it can be fairly easy to avoid, the tether is also fairly short as well. His ability to remount has an internal cd that is pretty long as well. And when he is dismounted he has very low movespeed (250 i think?) so he cannot run away at all really, but he has increased movespeed (actually faster than mounted speed) when he is running towards an enemy champion so keep that in mind

This is all very good advice thanks a lot. The only thing that's not really useful is the passive cd, chances are if I knock down his health bar 2.5 times I'm dead. However, I never would have thought of refraining from dismounting him but I guess that's common sense if you're decent at video games. that's an extremely good tip...man I hope I remember that along with forcing him to use his W. That's the type of shit I was looking for :)

Have him use his w passive (4 uncontrolled empowered autos) 1st then dismount him he wont be able get courage up quickly hes also slower than you during unmounted facing away. Now his burst starts with q if you survive it you can pretty much automatically auto dismount him and end him. Juggernauts beat him easily fighters like camille or jax can counter part or his whole burst. Kled is pretty much more like a slowish assassin (diver class) with no escape except ult.

Solid advice, I hope I'll remember this by the next time I fight him. Just have to knock down 800 health to get to that point though. W tip seems very useful in killing him, other guy said it has a ~16s cd and that makes this a bit easier.

As darius, buy ninja tabi and bramble vest early on, then get some ho and ad. You basically need to be able to tank him. Before that point though, you need to poke him with q. If he has much more ho than you, then sit in your own minion wave, don't extend, let him dive you. When he does, do a combo similar to this: aa-W-q-e-aa if you want to duel him. If you want to run, just e him and q as you walk away. If he chases more, use aa-w. The E knocks him up and slows briefly, allowing you to disrupt him more and walk away so that he needs to use more abilities to catch up to you, enabling you to escape with your W slow.
