Supports - Season 8

What do you fellow support mains think about the Season 8 changes? I feel like there's a lot of interesting and INTeresting things you can do. For example, I've created some pages for common supports i play-

Soraka does not want Aerie. One poorly timed ult(or rather a well timed ult when Aerie happens to be up) could send her pet far off to another part of the map. And that thing moves slowly! I would prefer something like Guardian, font, conditioning/iron skin, revitalize, with sorcery splash of ultimate hat + transcendence(removes the need for cdr boots). The link for the build kept giving me error codes, so thats why this one is text.

Anyway, for Janna I'm going to be trying out this with a item 3030 and item 2045 for a 18 second(56% item cdr with fully stacked runes and sightstone) cooldown gigantic slowing feild. Should be fun.

But yeah the build you have would work for Janna, but has an issue for Soraka(a potentially major, if unlikely, one).

Depends how Aerie works in that case, doesn't it? Soraka's ult is healing all your team members at the same time, I could imagine that it is coded that way that Aerie will just fly to your closest ally and since you will most likely stay with your ADC, that won't be that far.

I doubt that Aerie is going to travel all the way from bot lane to top lane in that scenario.

Just tested it on the PBE(I got an account! Yay!)

Spawned allied sticks in this order: Top, Red side red buff, Blue side red buff, Bot.

Then I Ulted. It went to the top one. Then I teleported bot, and it still went to the top one(~13 second return time from one side to the other by the way).

Cleared them(the spirit goes to the nexus when you ult without any of the sticks up for some reason), then spawned one near blue side blue buff and had the rest surrounding me. It went to the Blue stick.

Basically, it seems to target whichever ally spawned first(similar to how Karthus's r does with ludens, or at least how it did). So it can go to the opposite side of the map, but it isn't guaranteed to. ADC/jungle/mid could also be the first to spawn.

Edit: So I tried a custom game. Cassiopeia was the first to spawn(besides me), and she went bot. I decided to go top to put maximum distance between us. Every single ult's Aery went to her. So it does seem to be 1'st in spawn order, at least from what I have seen.

Thanks for the clarification and that really sucks. I hope you give that information to Riot so they change it, in my opinion Aerie should target the nearest ally in that situation. :(

I will find the Runes pbe thread and submit this. At least Aerie's ms increases exponentially the longer it takes to travel to you, preventing you from out running it for longer than 6-10 seconds.

Coming back to this after testing on the pbe, and, while it is true, Aery will only be gone for 13 seconds because they changed her movement speed to scale exponentially the longer she is away from you. It will also only target the first person spawned(second if the first is soraka) which means that it could go for the top laner, but it can go to the jungler, mid, or adc too.

Soraka doesn't really need to be stacking AP for her heals to be effective and although the Manaflow Band is nice, Soraka doesn't suffer Mana issues through most of the match.

For Soraka, i really just wanted to be able to shield/heal at the same time, so I picked aerie as the keystone. However, your page seems a lot more optimized for soraka which I like. That ashe one though. I gotta try that out like day 1 of preseaon lol. Looks like fun!

thats quite the tanky build, I was thinking about MS for his ult. But that works too :P

I tried this set up on Sona on the PBE.

Really good ability to proc Kleptomancy. I think I got at least 500 worth of consumables.

I experimenting with Gathering storm on supports. Since many support builds can't afford large amounts of AP, I thought that rune might be able to compensate. (On Karma, I would probably use the same page, swapping Manaflow band with Ultimate hat.)
