Understanding "/Remake"

I'm confused right now. I thought remake was allowed after 3 minutes as long as first blood wasn't involved. But I just LP from this recent game. Our mid lane bought items and disconnected not even a full minute into the game. Our first blood happened at 3:46 that went 1:1. We weren't given the option to remake either and had to last against a stronger team comp with four people for 20+ minutes. I don't understand, was it because our mid bought items so we couldn't remake? If that's the case, why?

Furthermore, why is remake only allowed for the first ~3 minutes when losing someone 10 minutes is more of a problem?

remake only for when someone doesnt connect at the beginning of the game. 3 mins so that gives the player time to re-connect and get back in.

if someone DC after 10mins its more likely they will return. if not tough luck. if they allowed remakes after 10mins then the other team would be screwed for no reason, and the boards will be filled with complaints about that.

the first blood mechanic was removed from remake, so no matter how many deaths you can still remake. In the situation given your team should've been offered a remake.
