Death Recaps are Outdated

Alright. I'm just gonna say it straight up. Death recaps are silly. I understand they're there, but there's such a huge void of information that I feel like them being there is just damn ironic. I've seen many recaps tell me I've taken 2.3k damage in 10 seconds, and I add up 900 damage from three champs. That means I'm missing 1.4k damage. Where did it come from? I have no friggin' clue. That's BRILLIANT!

-Sigh-. Look, I know there's a lot of opinions and focus on characters and other forms of gameplay, but a good rehaul/update of how Death Recaps work would provide a ridiculous amount of information as to what happened. In theory, I think it would allow a huge amount of players really learn. And I'm all for having people more well-informed.

  • All damage should be notified. If I take 3 damage from a minion, or 27 damage from Smite, I want to know!

Maybe I'm just focusing on this issue because I like to take a look at the more tankier characters, and I personally like to build tanks. But for providing thought in my character builds, I think this would help immensely still.

TL;DR for you lazy butts who want the main point!

Death recaps are outdated and should provide more (relevant) information than they do currently.

Would be nice if they would show how much of each type of damage that was done as well as what did damage to you.

Then if you mouse over something that did damage to you it shows the % total damage they did to you and how much of each type of damage they did both % and actual number.

That is all that is needed to get the overall idea of who is doing damage and what kind of damage is being done.

No "flash did 7 damage" needed

I once saw a post in which a kennen apparently "damaged himself" in his death re-cap, it's not just the lack of info, it's also the inaccuracy and varius other game bugs

Instead of death recap, riot should show us a pôrno video -albert einstein in 1934.

The Death Recap only shows you a few things:

  1. Who killed you

  2. Who helped

  3. The type of damage you took (physical, magic, true, etc.)

  4. Only the 3 things that did the most damage from each source (meaning a lot doesn't show up)

  5. Tips on how to improve against your killer

So basically it's nothing but good info that will influence your build and playstyle and you're complaining???

If it did all that, it would actually be great and useful information, like you said. But currently it's often very buggy and doesn't show things accurately.

Yeah they're clearly inaccurate in many cases. There are times (mostly in ARAM) when I've taken no damage or even CC from enemies for 10 seconds, but still wasn't considered executed. I remember a game recently where a Janna had just gotten back to tower when the tower killed me. It said "YOU HAVE BEEN SLAIN!" and the Death Recap said Janna had assisted (no skills used or damage shown) but nobody was listed as killer.

She shielded the tower. One of those things that the deathcap missing is understandable.

But in general, yes, the recap is aweful. It only seems to list the last 3 sources of damage. If you take a crit from Jinx for 1k, then a minion hits you, you step on a Nidalee trap, and Soraka AAs you, the recap just shows Soraka+Nid+minions, even though it was the Jinx crit that really destroyed your HP bar.
