@Riot Leaver Detection
So in my past say 50 games, I've had at least 15 games where a player doesn't connect to the game or disconnects immediately after connecting. Usually this isn't a problem because they reconnect immediately and game on. However I've had at least 3 occasions now where I'm just stuck with a 4v5 for the whole game because someone didn't connect.
So What I really don't understand is why there is no DC detection and Null Game response. I'm going to get flamed huge for this but I'm going to reference Dota 2. To start, I enjoy playing league so much more than Dota 2 and would never switch games. I however do see some merit in Dota's gameplay systems. One of which is the Null Game Detection.
In Dota if a single player disconnects within the first 5 minutes and stays disconnected for 2 minutes, the game is considered void and any player may leave without incurring a "leave" or a "loss". Naturally the team without a leaver would not achieve a win either.
What does this actually do: This would ensure that games that do reach the end were played out properly. Any quits after 5 minutes are either ragequits or true DC. At this point these events would've happened regardless. Because there is still a leaver buster system coupled with a null game detection system players that leave regardless of time will still be found and punished. This ensures that regardless of what "pressure" someone may be put under to disconnect, they likely won't due to the leaver buster system that is there to catch him. This would also waste peoples time less. If you have a DC from the start no longer will you have to wait for 20 minutes to win a nearly impossible 4v5 game. You just have to wait 7 max before being allowed to leave.
TLDR: Implement a system that null and void games when a long dc occurs at the start. There is no negative implications and only positive ones.
