Sometimes I really want to play a specific champion and for that I play normals. But a few times a month my own team will ban the champion I have selected so I dodge. Now why am I punished with a wait time after that? Ridiculous.

You're being punished for dodging, not for your team's choice of ban. Shouldn't be that hard to understand.
Don't dodge? Is it really that bad to play your second choice for champion a couple times a month?

Banning is part of ranked. If a person want to ban a champion then why should they be limited because of preference? This is especially true on the blue side where you don't want the enemy to first pick an OP champ.
I ban my team's champions quite a bit if I don't like what they are picking, or it breaks our comp.
Play more champions and stop being stubborn. What happens if the enemy team picks your champion before you have a chance? do you then dodge?
Sure your team shouldn't of banned your champion but you dodging is still the bigger crime. You wasted everyone time just because you threw a tantrum are you 12?
it's a 5 minute timer, 20-30 minutes at worst, and you don't even need the client open to wait for it to expire. Just play something else, watch tv, or w/e in the meantime.
You're being punished because you're wasting 9 other peoples' time and ruining their experience because of your own selfishness.
The whole process of getting into select, then champion select and banning isn't exactly a fast process. By you dodging you just wasted the time 9 players spent to get thus far into a match only to make them have to re-queue.
You're basically asking: Why am I getting punished for making the game less enjoyable for others because I'm being selfish and refuse to play any other champion?
I always make sure to ban my own team's selected champs.
