I've heard a lot about the meta. but to put it simply i have no idea what they mean anymore. In ranked play i assume people mean 2 solo lanes a jungle and a duo bot.
in lcs from what ive seen its 3 solo lanes and duo jungle with a roaming support, lanes swaps happen after some amount of time.
but then people say "draven is terrible in this meta". ingoring what statement what EXACTLY is "this meta"/

Draven is pretty weak in the current meta because it's assassin heavy and he tends to have a hard time catching axes while fearing for his life. If we went to a previous meta, like say the one where people were picking lots of waveclear, he'd do better in that environment than today's environment.

I mean what is the current meta which you partially got with this
current meta because it's assassin heavy
but that only breaks down the mid lane. think of this as me trying to actively study the current meta to further understand it

Top - someone who's good both in a pure 1v1 early and scaling into a scary teleporter for teamfights later. Think Gnar or Rumble. Mid - Mostly assassins or burst mages. Waveclear mids generally suffering with Grail nerf. Zed or Ahri. Bot ADC - Gotta be mobile and reasonably good against assassin dives. Tank busters and hypercarries currently out of favor. Graves or Sivir. Bot Sup - Peel specialists seem to be in favor. Janna and Thresh. Jungle - All-around fighters that are good at dueling, initiating teamfights, and at least reasonable at cleraing the jungle. Lee Sin, Jarvan.
Gromble1 votesthe meta is evolution. Both natural and artificial selection at work. Millions of hours of gameplay and riots tinkering forged what works best in this environment(summoner's rift). that doesn't mean something different can't work on the contrary if it does work it becomes the new meta.
