Why doesn't Essence Reaver work for Jayce?

Jayce doesn't have an ultimate. His R is classified as a stance change not an ability. The same thing happens with Udyr and Nidalee and is the reason why using R doesn't add a stack of Tear of the Goddess on Jayce or Nid.
