I'm currently in bronze 4 and and my friend is in bronze 1 and he is getting 17 league points on average for every win. I on the other hand only get about 9-10 and when I lose I lose 26. Why is this?

LP gains and losses historically have been directly related to your win rate. The system is trying to keep you in the division it has determined you belong.

no... its your lifetime winrate in ranked, which includes every game you've played.

well what if you always get shit teams? League should reward individual play.

They should make dominion ranked, in dominion there is a way to compare you to your teammates and enemies. Then you can be ranked individually.

Regardless of what game mode you are in, there is always unknown factors that can't be accounted for with accuracy. Even in dominion, yes you have individual scores, but if your team is doing terribly and they feed, how can you expect to keep up when you're going even and the enemies who got fed have 1k+ gold on you (example)? All you can do is attempt to do better every match and don't flame teammates and just try to work together with them without hating each other. Shit teams are unavoidable, but the way you play and your attitude in those games is something you can control.

No, if you improve a lot and start winning games way more often than you lose, then the game will realize that you're better and give you more lp, while taking away less.

Not if you maintain a high win rate. If you're getting small gains and large losses in LP, the system has determined that you are currently ranked higher than your individual MMR. Increase your individual MMR to your rank and the gains/losses will even out a bit. Increase your individual MMR to higher than your rank and your gains will be larger than your losses.

What needs to happen for you, is you need to begin having a win-rate that is over 50%. The system will not recognize you as any rank higher than what you are until you get more wins than losses and continue that trend for a while. The only way to change your LP gains/losses is to do that.
